First Generation Bluetooth Keyboard and iPad?

I have a first Generation Bluetooth Apple Keyboard (model A10160 that works fine with my newer iMac. I am trying to pair with iPad, the iPad locates the keyboard, but seem to want to pair.
Any thoughts or help?

HI Scott,

The keyboard Bluetooth technology may not be up to speed to "pair" with your iPad. If you can, try a newer keyboard to see if it makes a difference.

The iPad supports Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR technology

I have the 2007 keyboard and had trouble pairing it with my new iPad 2, but it will pair and I'm using it now to type this reply. I followed the link below to assist, but it was easy. I had to unpair my keyboard from my macbook and make my macbook undiscoverable. After that my keyboard was discoverable on my iPad 2 and I have no issues. I've been able to get my keyboard to pair on my macbook, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, and now my iPad 2.
