Video Playlists on iPad's iPod application

Am I doing something wrong or are video playlists totally broken on the iPad? When you get to the end of a video podcast that was launched from a playlist, instead of it playing the next video podcast on the playlist like it does on iPods, iPhones and Apple TV, it just dumps you out to the "Videos" application. It appears that there's no way to play multiple video podcasts in a row without touching the device to launch the next one each time. No other Apple device works like this! (and shouldn't)

Well, if it just has to update on the other iOS devices in copies of the same app, it could push sync data to iCloud or other service and have the other copies of the same app on other devices pull down and update their statuses. It might even be possible to have a companion OS X app that also accesses that sync data and pushes it to iTunes. Then again, Downcast keeps having problems with its implementation and turning off syncing making you have to reset syncing again and again.

Meanwhile, Apple's Podcasts app does have the access to modify play informatoin, so Apple has a private API for it, though for some reason it marks them as played twice for each single play.
