Can I just clarify what 'new one' means? I had a very similar problem with my 6 month old ipad 1 and was told that it would be replaced with a refurbished ipad1. I have to say that the 'customer relations' people were less than helpful.
I had the same problem after 6 months and I took it to where I bought it (Dubai Virgin). They called me after 4 days informing me they were replacing the unit, and did so without any queries.
The problem was a pain, but the solution was brilliant.
