cannot delete Worm.VBS.Agent.al on my mac

Hi,

I just ran Kapersky Anto virus for mac, and it says a serious threat found as Worm.VBS.Agent.al
It cannot delete nor disinfect it. I moved the concerned file with the virus to trash and tried to delete it but it says that i dont have permission to do it. I am the main user with full admin powers on my computer.

Can someone please help how to get rid of this virus. Thanks

G'day - and welcome to the forums,

Firstly - this is probably a Windows worm, and won't affect your Mac.

To delete the file, first move it back to the Desktop and do a "Get Info" on the file. If you do not have "read-write" access, just click on the little padlock on the bottom and give yourself read-write access. Then you can delete it.

p.s. You should be sure that it is only a document - and not a system file.

Thanks for your reply.
Firstly how do I establish whether its a system file or not??? Secondly I did what you wrote but cant fid an option to delete, its day move to trash only.

File name is Worm.VBS.Agent.al it was originally located in a MP3 songs folder, i can see it though it comes up in the anti virus scan, i have deleted all the and moved the folder to trash can, cant delete as it says permission denied...

You'll have to remove it from the Trash to change the permissions. Once you move it, select it and type cmd+i. At the bottom of the screen it will tell you what permissions you have. Expand the disclosure triangle and click the padlock to unlock it. Once you've unlocked it set the owner to you and give yourself read and write permission. Now trash and delete.
