Weak wifi

If it's indeed a hardware issue that can be reproduced in-store (say by a show of reduced signal strength as compared to a different iPad), the odds are 100%.

I had this problem, my wifi was intermittent and usually very bad reception. A few days before I had dropped my iPhone and that's when the trouble started. I opened up the phone and connector 6 had become detached but was just touching the plug. I pressed it back on and stuck it down with masking tape, the phone has full wifi reception once again :)

This was on a 3GS and I didn't believe it would actually become detached until I saw it myself.

I had the sam problem.

After i changed the AE Radio Mode to 802.11n only (5Ghz) - 802.11b/g seems the wifi connection between iphone / AE is getting better. At least 1 Mb downstream where i was 0.2Mb.

Another interesting observance - my wife has a ipad 2 32g 3G verizon and I have a 64 wifi. Upstairs in the bedroom I get pretty decent signal to full signal and having hers place right next to mine her signal is at 1 bar gets cut off or 2 bars.

With that wondering if it's the 3G that weakens the signal.

I can try mine with the 3G off later today and report back. Coincidentally I canceled my 3G on my iPad yesterday.

I meant the wireless hardware in the 3G is different then the wireless hardware in the wifi.

That's a possibility. I didn't get a chance to test mine with 3G turned off yet, but wll today. If I still have wifi issues, I may ask the Apple store if there is a diffrence.

Add me to the list of owners with a weak wifi problem. When I am in the bedroom, the new iPad barely has a signal. It shows just one bar and will occasionally drop the connection. The iPod Touch shows full strength in there as does my laptops. The iPad works fine in the living room where the router is located and shows full strength there. We are only 30 feet away in the bedroom and as I said there is no weakness showing on any other wireless device.

I am glad you responded to this, I forgot to come back and update. I have not gone to the Apple store yet. I have had 3G turned off completely (no AT&T service, 3G turned off in settings) and have no improvement.

Also having problem with IPAD 2, 64G 3G wifi. Weak signal on my IPAD while my IPhone and older HP computer are fine. Bummer!

Having same problem. side by side, I tested my laptop, iphone and ipad all on wifi....only one that didn't pick up signal was ipad3.

Is that a brand new iPad 2 Rob? I don't seem to recall hearing much about wifi signal strength on the iPad 2.

Well, I bought it brand new - in September. This whole thread is around the iPad 2, the 3 wasn't even out when we started the discussion. Not sure what you mean there, Batavain.

I have same issues here, My laptop get full signal but my iPad wifi is weak . Hope they can fix it. So disappointed.
