I've tried everything. Restarted my Macbook, restarted the iPad, uninstalled then reinstalled iTunes and my iPad will not open up in iTunes. It will open up iPhoto, though, but I have no photos to import because I cant even set up the iPad into iTunes! So mad, can anyone help???

I had the same problem, iPad would not talk to my itunes. I "updated" itunes. iTunes version said "9.0"....hmmm...still not "9.1" even though that is what it was suppose to "update" too. So, I uninstalled iTunes as per the Apple support page "Removing iTunes for Mac OS X". I then downloaded and installed iTunes 9.1 (again). This time iTunes said the version number was "9.1". And my iPad connected ok.

I have already pretty much assumed that my IPad will work on another computer. So my intent is simply to be honest when I continue my dialogue with Apple support; i.e. yes, to their question whether it works on another computer. I do like your suggestion to open up a new thread. By the way, my IPod works fine. Strange isn't it?

Thanks for listening and thanks for your suggestions.

Have you tried doing a soft reset on the iPad? It's done the same way as the iPhone & iPod Touch. Hold down the power button [@ the top of the iPad} along with the home button until you see the apple icon.

I had the same problem with one of the iPads in the office. It wouldn't show up on the computer. Of course you should be running iTunes 9.1. But did the soft reset and it popped right up in iTunes.
