Tamara: Read a few posts down. It will explain my comment.

For giggles, try accessing the following sites with your flash block turned on:
Hulu, HBO, Fox, NBC, Google Finance, Disney, CNN.

These are just a few that I can quickly think about off the top of my head as I am typing this reply.

No one can say (except paid Apple employees) that not having the ability to see Flash is a good thing.

Personally, *I want a product that gives me the option to see whatever I want to see*, not a product that either _cannot perform to my expectations_ or _has the guts to tell me what I should and should not have access to_ on the web.

Beyond my iPod, I have not had the privilege of interacting with Apple until now, and I will tell you that I am less than satisfied.

If you are happy that Apple has decided that you should not have the ability to access Flash, then ignorance is truely bliss.

What ignorance? I've considered flash to be garbage for years which is why I installed flash block. Once in a very great while, I'll need to look at something with Flash.

If Flash is a high priority for you then you'll have a few devices to choose from later this year based on what I've been reading about Computex.

Own that opinion if it's in Flash you don't need it: it's garbage. Using a blocker and calling it all "garbage" is hypocritical. Who in their right mind keeps that installed on their system. iPad doesn't have Flash to access the whole internet.

And I think that's the hidden point here: there's a lot of garbage on the internet. Flash ads annoy people. But they keep a lot of the web free. Flash is a content delivery platform. The content might be viewed as garbage but that's not the fault of the platform.

I did a search on how many sites used Flash and this was the first:

http://www.flashmagazine.com/news/detail/howmany_sites_useflash/

I couldn't find a date, but this is part of what they report

"We all know that Flash is installed on about 98%_ of all browsers, but how many web pages use Flash? Surveying more than 3.5 million pages, the Opera (browser) developer center found that somewhere between 30% and 40% of all pages tested contained Flash files"

You're welcome.

ClicktoFlash works great. Flash content only if you want it. You can download all Flash content for a selected website, or one item only such as if there is a video you need or want to watch that is provided via Flash and the website includes other Flash garbage that you don't want available. You can view the video only.

A number of websites I visit provide nothing but banners and ads only via Flash. Now I don't see any of that garbage and the website loads much faster.

If not having flash on the iPad is such a big deal to you, I have the PERFECT solution: GET SOMETHING ELSE!!! Try a MacBook/Macbook Pro/MacBook Air, netbook, or laptop PC...they all can run flash. Or you can wait for one of the devices that will "eventually" run flash... It't not like this is breaking news...I mean, the iPhone has been out since 2007, the iPad runs the iPhone OS, and the iPhone OS has never run flash, and according to Steve Jobs, it never will (though he has been known to say one thing definitively and later have a change of heart).

If my bank didn't have one section where I need flash, I wouldn't have it on my machine at all.

****, that blows. Have written to them? Don't they know that flash is security risk? You should vote with your feet and switch to a flash-less, iPad friendly bank 🙂

While they are at it Banks should also ban the use of Javascript: http://blip.tv/file/3684946
