Safari keeps logging me out...

Could you try deleting some older / larger cookies from the sites you see this on via the Safari preferences? I am aware of an issue starting 10.6.3 that could be similar to this which involves older cookies set on a given domain occluding newer cookies set on said domain.

I've tried with no cookies on a clean install and it still happens.

I have not tried on a clean 10.6.0 install. Only a clean 10.3.0 to 10.6.3 combo-updated install.

I filed an official bug report last week regarding this problem, since it was annoying me constantly. I received an update to my bug report today, stating the following:

This is a follow up to Bug ID# 7945XXX. After further investigation it has been
determined that this is a known issue, which is currently being investigated by
engineering. This issue has been filed in our bug database under the original Bug
ID# 7829626.

So, in summary: No, those of us having this issue are not crazy, and yes, it's a known issue Apple is working on fixing. If I get more information, I will pass it along.

I am shocked at how long this has taken to fix? Surely It should have been done by now. This is just dragging on and getting more and more frustrating

I just downloaded the new Safari 5.0 AND THIS PROBLEM STILL EXISTS!!!!
This is a serious issue which has rendered Safari useless at every workstation at my company.

You have to be kidding me. This makes using webapps at work completely tedious. You never know if it is going to be another ten minutes or two hours before Safari logs you out but you do know it's going to happen at an inopportune time. It is completely unacceptable that this still exists across a major Safari revision. Time to file another bug report ...

Here's what's striking..almost 2 weeks ago I decided to email 'Mr. Jobs' myself and didn't get a response. When I heard about safari 5, I figured: Oh, that's why! They fixed the problem on this build.

I was WRONG!

The same problem exist, even after several people have already filled the bug report. I don't know how much longer can I go with this, I'm honestly super close to switch browsers which is a real shame 'cause I honestly love safari. I can't even email anymore form my web-based email providers cause as I happen to be writing an email, it decides to log me out. The saddest part is that now we have to wait for a new build for this to be fixed.

Hopefully apple will do something about it but once again, it's very sad they didn't addressed such a 'BIG PROBLEM' for users in this new build.

It is very strange. We have 2 MacBooks in the family. Bought about 6 months apart, but same configs.

One has the horrible log out problem.. immensely frustrating. Toss the MacBook out the window.

The other never logs out.

I have tried all the tricks listed on this thread. Nothing helps. But there must be some difference.

Is anybody from Apple reading this thread?
It has more replies than any other thread in the Safari discussions and yet nobody from Apple and no fix so far and they even just released 5.0.

I said it before, and I'll say it again... go back to 10.6.2! I was hoping Safari 5 would've fixed this problem, but I see it hasn't. I'm glad I checked back here before upgrading to 10.6.3 v1.1 again. Hopefully 10.6.4 will have the fix.
