Best EQ settings

hello onslaught

im using an ipod touch 3G and i listen to a variety of music. i find that
the loudness setting is the best/ideal EQ setting in general. This loudness
boost up all sounds in a way like turbocharging the engine of a car. Give it
a try and i hope you like it.

If a song has a preset EQ in iTunes, that preset EQ will be used in iTunes as long as the iPod EQ is not set to Off.

If the iPod EQ is set to Rock and a song has a preset of Classical, the song will play with *Classical EQ*.

AFAIK, to your latter paragraph, the music will play with whatever EQ setting is set in your iPod over the EQ setting of that same track/album as set in iTunes. That is, if you have your iPod set to Rock and the track/album in iTunes is set to Classical, the Rock EQ setting will play over the Classical EQ frequncy settings, similar to a double EQ setting. At least, that's how I understand it, while the Flat setting will allow for, more or less, clean EQ setting playthrough of what was set in iTunes. There will still be some sound enhancement, but since Flat allows for all frequencies to be at a balanced level, you'll mostly hear the iTunes EQ settings. It's almost akin to turning on Surround Sound, but leaving all the frequencies in the middle.

No, that's not correct according to Apple:

If a song has an EQ setting from iTunes, that setting will always be used on the iPod, unless the iPod's EQ is OFF, or if you temporarily override the song's EQ as described in the article.

I stand corrected! Seems my experience is different than what even Apple states from what I can tell from hearing my tracks. I've done all sorts of testing, but maybe I could be liking for a difference in sounds?
