How do I get my iPad to not automatically start syncing when I plug it into iTunes? My iPhone doesn't autosync, but I can't figure out how to do this with the iPad. Thanks!
It's an iTunes option. Connect the iPad and select it on the left side of iTunes.
On the "Summary tab at the top, uncheck "Open iTunes when this iPad is connected" You can also go thru the tabs and uncheck sync "contacts, calendars, mail", Apps, Movies, Music, Tv shows, Podcasts, books, and photos depending on what you want to do.
You have to plug it in and then quickly press the little cross in the top centre window until it stops trying to sync. Then you set the preferences and the Summary Tab option. Less than ideal but about the only way with multiple devices.
Before you next sync your iPad, open iTunes and go to Preferences > Devices.
You should have the latest version of iTunes if you're using an iPad, so you should see a "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically".
Click OK and connect your iPad. That should correct the problem.
Hold down cmd+opt (possibly shift+ctrl on Windows) when connecting your iPod. Then iTunes preferences > device tab > turn off syncing iphones and ipods.
