iTunes Could Not Connect To The iTunes Store

When attempting to do anything in iTunes which uses the iTunes store I receive the following message: "iTunes Could Not Connect To The iTunes Store. Make sure your network connection is active and try again."

This problem has only begun to occur since updating iTunes to version 9.1. I a 64-bit version of Windows 7 and iTunes has worked perfectly until this latest update. I checked with my coworkers and they are all having the same problem. Additionally, I performed a clean uninstall and reinstall of iTunes per the Apple support websites instructions for Windows 7. As I browse around this forum there seems to be many recently active threads concerning problems with the iTunes store. All this leads me to believe that the problem is on Apple's end, not mine.

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks!

I dont know where you pulled this information from, but YOU sir are a genius! I tired to do all the voodoo everyone suggested, but to no avail. Now, for the first time in who knows how long, I'm able to log into Itunes! Normally I wouldnt mind, but I wasnt even able to contact the server for updates. So thank you MoMaxPhoto. Hope I can repay the favor sometime ... but its highly unlikey.

MTG68 wrote - In windows 7, click on your start menu, go to accessories, right click on the command prompt icon and choose "run as administrator". Once it opens, type in the following command...

netsh winsock reset

hit enter and it should say something like winsock reset successful now reboot your computer

And if this does not work, because it happened with a Vista user...do this....

okay, get the free software, Advanced System Care( yeah that's the name), it does many magical things but what you have to do is, get the free version,

here is the link,:
http://www.iobit.com/advancedsystemcareper.html

and now download and install the software, after installation, open the toolbox( a part of the software, you will see it clearly), and then go to "Repair", then go to "WinFix", and then from there, go to "Advanced Fix", and from there go to , "IE", and from their scroll down to- Reset Internet Connection Or Repair TCP/IP to default state.....

I hope this works, because the netsh winsock reset didnt work for you, and yes if you don't getwhat to do, don't worry, tell me, I will make the next post with images....and if this does work, please hit me up...... I think it will work, because the software is highly acknowledged, and it says it will reset the TCP/IP, please bro, if it works, tell me(by replyin to this post).....and this goes to everyone for whom this helps......

Thanks a lot MoMaxPhoto.

I have tried for days solving the same problem. Tried al the recommendations in Apple Support nothing worked.

But your advice worked like a charm. Apple support should hire you 😎

Run cmd as administrator, then type in these commands:

netsh winsock reset catalog

[hit enter]

netsh int ip reset reset.log

[hit enter]

Reboot.

I've had the same problem and found this from and older apple help site and it worked.

"...checked in Network Preferences and, sure enough, there was a Web Proxy defined, pointing to the 127.0.0.1 address I had mentioned in my previous post. Passive FTP had also been enabled. I unchecked both boxes and now all three apps (Firefox, IE 5.2 and the Software Update feature) work fine."

Under Proxies, I unchecked Web Proxy and the Passive FTP and Itunes Store and Software Updates started to work again!

Cheers

The solution provided by htmanning regarding "netsh winsock reset catalog" etc. worked for me. I spent hours and hours taking all of the various suggestions. Very frustrating. Hard to say whether to blame Apple or Microsoft. Bottom line is that if Apple wants to sell its wares, it needs to make sure this works. I purchased an iPad and tried to get this working, with much frustration. Not what I expected. My first expereince with Apple - not so good. :-(
