This is a simple product that does just what the label suggests. I have bought this for bluetooth connectivity to my iPad to be used as a mouse. I have not tried to use this as a presenter.

My goal has been to control my iPad with a remote control/presenter with Keynote. This requires a jailbroken iPad and the new BTC Mouse & Trackpad Cydia Tweak. Put simply this works amazingly. Took 1 second to connect to the iPad and I can now control the iPad as a mouse and when in Keynote the mouse works as presenter. Fantastic and for only £5.30!!

I assume this is old clearance stock since the battereies have an expiry date of November 2011 but they are in perfect condition and working fully. This item is a bargain for any jailbroken iPad user.

Is there any solution WITHOUT jailbreaking the iOS device (iPod touch, iPhone or iPad)? Is Apple listening? This is frustrating!

Oh well, suffice it to say that the answer to both your questions is no.

Mr./Ms. Apple Censor, would you please remind the marketing guys that this small support group is just the tip of the iceberg (or maybe the stem of the apple). The iPhone app just isn’t sufficient in a professional setting.

They're too busy trying to cram more pixels and a third camera into the next iPad to be bothered about what anyone here thinks. WWSD? He was the one who said that it's not the consumers job to know what they need...I have given up in the iPad, it's a toy for my kids. I have just bought a new 10" Sony Vaio which I use with my beloved Kensington remote - I had so wished that my relationship with Apple could have lasted longer, but who on earth wants to hold their phone while they present - not even Steve did that! Let's see how long it takes for this post to be taken down ;)

Probably not too long. I am afraid a standard off the shelf ipad just isn't good enough. I have to be careful what I right here but suffice it to say that people choose alternatives to that regime for a reason and this whole chain is a perfect illustration of why. Sad really. I love my non-standard device but I hate the company that make it!!!

I don't mean to sound too much like a cheerleader, but given that my phone shows either the presenter notes or the current and next slide, which no standard Bluetooth remote will, I certainly am happy to use it (which I do regularly when I lecture). In very practical terms, the iPhone remote is far more functional and useful than any single-purpose third-party hardware Bluetooth remote. It's true that not everyone has an iPhone or iPod touch, but for those who do own this Apple gear, this remote solution is far superior, and means one less device to buy. That is certainly a great bonus for some people in some circumstances. But other people or other circumstances may require a simple remote control, which is lighter, smaller and easier to hold. Just remember how Steve used to give presentations or Tim or the Apple executives give presentations. They use a small remote, not a larger and heavier device like the iPod touch, iPhone or iPad.

In summary, what we ask Apple is to allow third parties to develop remote controls for the iOS devices, so that Apple iOS customers have choices. Everybody wins!

Yes, and EVERYTHING that appeared on Steve's iPad during the launch, appeared on the big screen, but we get a handful of apps that push screen to video out and dedicated adapters that can either charge or handle VGA or video out. I'm glad to gave found a cheap adaptor on eBay that fully exploits all 30 pins of the output. I can charge AND push video out and acwhole lo more... But of course I don't because I can't remote control it! I am also not willing to look like a prat playing on his phone when I should be engaging my audience. And finally I can't take the chance that the my iPhone battery will in fact last a full day. My Kensigton batteries last ages and are quick and easy to exchange.

Keynote works well with this and the beauty is that composite video requires a much thinner cable than the HD VGA cable, so it's lighter to travel with. If you use the regular triple RCA cable you can run sound as well.

There is even a wireless option to transmit video to a projector - just run a search on eBay

The adaptor I have allows me to output video and sound, charge and connect a USB camera all at the same time - not bad for £15 compared with £25 for a simple VGA cable from our friends ;)

Thanks for that. Actually I am presenting in the work place so I need VGA for the projectors since they are rarely HDMI. In the mean time i just ordered one of these.
