OK this works for me
if you have mobil me
1. on your COMPUTER go to
system preferences > mobil me > Sync > Advanced > Reset Sync data > change the direction from cloud to computer to computer to cloud. > select OK. (MAKE SURE DATA ON YOUR COMPUTER IS WHAT YOU WANT)
You can uncheck those you don’t want to change in the mobil me window BEFORE you do the sync.
You now have the data you want in the cloud (mobile me). If you know the data in the cloud is OK just skip step one.
Step one is simply to insure the data in the cloud and on your computer are the same avoiding potential conflicts in the following steps.
2. On your iPad go to
Settings > Mail contacts calendars > Accounts .Mac > Contacts OFF > Calendars OFF > Done
3. On your computer open iTunes and connect iPad
Select your iPad in left column of iTunes window> Select Info Tab > Check Sync Address Book Contacts and Sync iCal Calendars ( Do not have mail accounts checked.) > In Advanced check Contacts and Calendars. > Sync
IMPORTANT-> Once the Sync is complete go back and UNCHECK Sync Address Book and iCal Calendars. NOw you have nothing under the info tab selected.
(The information above assumes you are trying to get rid of duplicate entries on both iCal and Address Book. If not simply ignore the one you are not interested in.)
4. On your iPad go back to
Settings > Mail contacts calendars > Accounts .Mac > Now change Contacts to ON > and Calendars to ON > Done
Your iPad will automatically sync iCal and Address Book from the cloud (mobil me) and will not sync from your computer thus avoiding the duplicate entries.
If you prefer to sync from your computer rather than the cloud don’t change the settings from step four and don’t uncheck Sync Address Contacts and iCal from the info tab within iTunes.
You are trying to avoid the iPad from synching with both the cloud and your computer.
Hope this helps
