iMac 27 Inch, Mac OS X (10.6.3)
that's absolutely incredible to me! I hope everyone on this forum calls Apple to say *** share the information. i've been experiencing this off and on for a year and i think it's the keychain, but every fix gets corrupted eventually. i'll call Apple, but i no longer have Apple Care so we shall see where it goes.
just wondering... i see you posted this same answer in february. why are you still on this forum? Apple wants to charge me $19 to share the fix. this is unconscionable.
well, using what smb12321 said in february, i went to my system preferences and took all Sleep options to Never. seems to have worked and makes sense to me given my feeling it was the keychain malfunctioning.
Hi guys i foud a solution with the apple guy.. go to HD-library-prefereces-systemConfiguration and delete all plist there.. work like a charm right now, no more disconect from network 🙂
I've been having this same problem for over a month and finally decided to try to fix it. Internet kept on cutting out on my 2009 iMac running 10.8. It would be fine while surfing and downloading some bit torrent stuff, then cut off for about a minute and come back for another 5-10minutes. iPad and other devices were fine.
Solution for me -
I read on one of the post that they went into system pref's and energy saver to turn off computer sleep and display sleep. Then remembered I did activate this a while back. Well after putting both sleeps on the never, it has stopped the internet problem for me.
I know this didn't work for everyone on the forum, but it did work for me and I thought I'd let people know.

Thank you all. I've been having this issue for the past few days on my 2009 Powerbook G4, and have had a lot of trouble figuring it out. Essentially, for known networks, it's almost like a proxy was active, but I couldn't see any indication that was actually happening. The internet would occasionally work; and then suddenly it wouldn't. Chrome would be an endless stream of 'page not available' and the Resolving Host message was all I ever saw most of the time. This issue seemed to go away when I went to a coffee shop and used a new network; but the instant I opened Network Preferences to see what was different, things would go haywire.
I also run Parallels, so thought it was an issue with that, especially since Parallels creates all sorts of extra internet nonsense to do its own connection. I uninstalled it; the internet connectivity issue still persisted. I also run Mountain Lion; thinking it was an issue there, I upgraded to the latest version (10.8.4). Still no change.
I knew this was a computer issue because my phone, iPad, Apple TV & printer, not to mention my boyfriend's computer, iPad & phone, had no trouble connecting to the internet.
Then I realized that my Airport Express needed a firmware update. So I updated it. And now it's like this problem never happened.
Hey, how did you update firmware for wireless? Shouldn't this be done automatically when you check for system updates?
Sadly Airport Express firmware updates don't register in the normal software update window.
You need to download and install Airport Utility (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1664). Once you open it (it'll be in Applications > Utilities), you'll find it's already detected your Airport Express.
Go to preferences and set it to check for updates weekly. If you've got multiple Airport stations, check the 'monitor Airport stations' box.
If it doesn't automatically detect and install the update, go back to http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1664 and install the latest update listed there.
Good luck!
Hi,
I also had same problem. Working with Macpro Tower running 10.6.8 with Virgin media hub.
I changed my settings to computer sleep - never.
I also changed my sceensaver settings to never coming on and I have not had any problems since.
Hope this might help someone else get their internet connection back.
Cheers
Pj
I'm having similar problem with iMac7,1 (2007ish) running 10.6.8.
My MacBook Pro, iPad, Apple TV, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s don't appear to have issues.
Someone posted this fix around July 18, 2013. I just did this and my internet connection with my Macbook Pro and Airport Time Machine is back to normal performance!
Shut down ALL devices that get an IP address (phones, tablets, PCs, routers, gateways, etc...)
Power up the ISP device first
Power up wireless router
Power up device having the slow internet performance (Macbook Pro...)
Then power up remaining devices.
Worked for me and I tried EVERYTHING on this post (turning off sleep modes, deleting plist files, etc...) and nothing worked until I did THIS!!!!
Thanks. I simply unplugged the apple TV for a minute and that fixed it. Once it stops loading everything else is fine. Thanks
I've been all the way to the top at Apple and had many fixes work for a time. I finally told the top guy that it was my feeling that it was the Keychain that was at fault. He said that wasn't likely. I told him I thought the issue could be solved for me if I could keep from dropping off line in the first place and told him I was in an apartment with a high amount of wifi traffic. I asked if it was possible that I was getting knocked off by other traffic and that the keychain wasn't providing the password to get back on. He didn't say, but told me how to change the channel to the wifi to one with no other traffic. I have never had it drop off again. It's now been over six months. Good luck everybody!
I have this problem as well. The internet connection suddenly drops, sometimes its okey, but sometimes its every other minute. If I turn Wi-Fi on and off it connects again, or if I go into Network setting > Assist me > Diagnostics it says that Wi-fi, Wi-fi settings and Network settings are green, while ISP, Internet and Server are orange (or sometimes red), but after a couple of seconds everything turns green.
I have full wi-fi connection all this time, and I'm not that far away from the airport. It is as if the computer forgets its supposed to be connected, and then when you do something to remind it it remembers and connects, only to forget 2 minutes later.
I've tried removing the wifi password from keychain, setting up a new location in Network settings, restarting the router, setting my computer sleep settings to never, resetting PRAM, checking for updates but nothing works.
Petter, this is to note exactly the same issue as I'm having. I gave up after trying at least 10
Fixes. I even wiped the mac to factory and it still didn't resolve . VERY frustrating. I ended up buying a USB wireless card off of eBay for £5 but have lost a USB port to support this fix. At least I have the internet working
