Keep losing internet connection

I have a 27 inch iMac that I bought just after they came out. I will be connected to the internet just fine and then all of sudden I lose internet connectivity. I got up and click the airport icon and it doesn't list any networks. If I restart my computer I can connect again for a day or two before this happens again.

Dear Bburt,

That is a flagrant lie, and they know it. I cannot avoid keeping working with Macs... and Windows still seems worse to me anyway, but for the life of me, after all these problems that I still suffer, I stopped recommended Apple products, of which I have sold to so many of my customers. I recommend cheap PC laptops which you can use and throw away because they are amazingly cheap.

I see that I am not the only one having this problem. I have a 3 year old 24" iMac. This loosing the internet problem has been going on intermittently the whole time. I'll go for months and then, as it is now doing, it is several times daily. Restarting helps most of the time,.

My 8 year old G4 PowerBook works just fine wirelessly. CONCLUSION: I think it has to do with hardware. Faulty airport card in the iMac, or something related.

The clue is the working Power Book but also a NEW indicator - an exclamation point in the signal "fan" in the toolbar. That has just begun to show up.

I hope someone comes up with a definite fix. Thanks for sharing folks.

grsk, I have the same problem as those in this thread. In my case, I have a PC connected to my router to my modem. The Mac (10.6.4) and 2 PC's are wireless. The PC's all connect, but the Mac does not. Many times, I will be working on the PC on a non-related issue and suddenly all of the wireless units will mount in the Mac and stay mounted until I shut it down at night. I was interested in your comments concerning the Keychain. When I open my Keychain Access.app, under "login/All Items", it shows the 3 PC's (one connected to router and 2 wireless)along with a couple of applications. If I look in "login/Passwords", the exact same items show up as in "All Items". From what you have said: 1)I assume that the same thing showing up in these 2 locations is what should happen. Correct?
2) Should the Mac also show up in the Keychain even though it is the one having the problem of connection?
3) I wonder if the 10.6.3 fix would do any good since I am using 10.6.4?
Thanks

Apple, Steve, moderators,

I have no doubt you monitor here and are well aware of the continuing problems with repeatedly losing Internet connections. You need to fess up and get a fix out to a bunch of disillusioned people. While my iMac 27 i7 is a fast and good computer, if I and many others can't use our equipment to work on the net, due to repeatedly losing connections, you have sold us what are real nice doorstops.

This is only one thread of many about this problem on this forum. It's time to get on the stick and concentrate on resolving this very frustrating issue.

Thank you,
From all of us

Well what I though may be the fix is not. Hmmm, I have 4 pc's on my network that scream Internet without any issue. I have this iMac that pugs along on the Internet. There is definitely a problem here. I'M NOT WIRELESS ITS WIRED!!! The handling of the DNS is a definite issue and NO ONE from APPLE wants to post a response here!

ATTENTION APPLE! YOU GUYS BETTER START FIXING THIS PROBLEM! GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSES AND GET THIS RESOLVED. OR I'M GOING TO LET THE FOLLOWING NEWS ARTICLE COMPANIES POST A STORY WORTH WRITING ABOUT: CNET, ZDNET, INFORMATION WEEK, WIRED, MAC WORLD, PC WORLD, AP, DIGG, EWEEK, NETWORK WORLD, CONSUMER REPORTS.

Since I have a support pack till 2012 I'm now gonna use the heck out of it.

Add me to the list of frustrated purchasers of a brand new 27" iMac. I can't stay connected to my airport and when I try to reconnect it doesn't recognize the password. BUT, if I log out, when I log back in I
m connected again. This *****. I just upgraded from a Windtunnel G4. I hope this connection issue can be resolved since I'm only a week into my warranty.

After some searching and going through old threads I found this one and saw that the problem is still prevalent. Have had a Macbook (now running 10.5.8) since 2008 and never any problems but recently my connection to the internet keeps dropping out. Connection to the router is still fine, and Network Diagnostics indicates connection to the ISP is also ok, but internet is a problem. Just like many others have posted, my wifi enabled (Nokia) phone and Vista PC connect just fine. Strangely enough, even though Safari and Camino cannot find the web I can still use Skype on the macbook quite happily as well which I really don't understand.

Anyone found a permanent solution?
