iMac 27 Inch, Mac OS X (10.6.3)
I am also having the same problem on my Mid 2011 iMac 27inch with i7 processor - if I go to System settings/Network/Assist Me/Network Diagnostics it will say my ISP has failed, but I can then reconnect to my network without problems. Unfortunately this is very inconvenient as I am having to do it at LEAST 10 times per day and there are no problems with my 3.1 17 inch Macbook Pro (also running SL) on the same Network (although the upgrade to Snow Leopard on this did stop the DVD player from being able to burn on any media type - ironic considering I also have Window's Vista on it and the DVD burns fine through this). In short, I have had nothing but problems since "upgrading" my Macbook Pro to Snow Leopard, and it looks like the change to a brand new computer has not been an adequate solution.
I too am exasperated with the same problem as DamenS and many above. I have a 2010 iMac27 connected (password protected) to my Virgin superhub. Wireless wifi works perfectly with my iphone 4, but my iMac keeps dropping the signal: I can get onto one internet page but when I go to another the internet connection goes. I still have five bright connection bars, but no internet! As previously reported" if I go to System settings/Network/Assist Me/Network Diagnostics it will say my ISP has failed, but I can then reconnect to my network without problems".
However, I don't know if this is relevant and may help to further dissect the problem, but I can also access another (? a neighbours) wireless network - it is not password protected - and my iMac connects to the internet perfectly well without any episodes of dropping. So - if its not the router, is it something to do with the security??
I am going to try the MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.3v1.1dmg today ....praying !!
Im too having problems. I Have the 2010 version of the MacBook Pro and im constantly loosing connectioin. I have another exaclty the same MacBook Pro which works perfectly fine, along with other laptops. I went to apple and they couldnt see the problem so i rang bt and they switched our channell, NO CHANGE! What is going on
Same problem here. Danish ISP TDC, iMac 27 OSX Version 10.6.8 Connected via Time Capsule. Started jumbing off the net today. Every 5-10 minutes. Have other computers hooked up on the net with no problem,
Frustrating.
Have been through the long comment line and found no solution. Mac support working on this?
I just bought an iMac 27" 10.7.2 (Processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5) (Memory: 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3). I have a comcast xfinity modem & wireless and have a mac book pro, 2 macbooks, an ipad & iphone, and this imac connected to it. They all run smoothly and never have any problems but this imac keeps going offline every 5 minutes - every hour (it varies). Does anyone have any idea what it could be?
Is there something I need to change with my modem? I've read it has something to do with the ipad affecting something, but I'm not sure. I attached an image of my diagnostics, and what I've noticed is that when my computer loses connection, everything remains green except for the ISP, Internet, & Server, which turn red. Any help would be appreciated thanks!
I had the same problem so I changed my computer to never sleep and I haven't lost connectivity since.
Alright folks,
I've got the same problem as most of ye, I have a 27" imac that cost me 3 thounand euro which i bought in 2011 from Apple. 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 processor/16GB Memory. I am running Os X 10.6.8. My connection goes every few minutes when i leave it idol, the airport bar is up to its fullest when this happens tho, the way i get it back is by turning off the airport and diagnose which it gives me the option to when the page does not load. Im so sick of these little bugs in products that we pay big money for when Apple glorifies themselfs as the top dog for computing products. If Apple can fix this problem then i suggest they put up a video on youtube to give us a tutorial on how to, or if anyone knows then maybe they could upload a video because it is wrecking my brain at this stage.
*SOMEONE PLEASE HELP SOLVE THIS PROBLEM*
Try doing what I did by setting your imac to "never" sleep. I have not gone offline since 14th December.
I am having the same proble as well where my mac will just drop connection for no apparent reason like 10 times a day. In fact while signing on here I lost connection! Mine seems to be a sever case and is extremely annoying please anybody that has a solution post it! I am loosing my mind. You would think buying a 27" iMac the internet would work. Always show full signal but always get ! Alert no internet connection and my iphone seems to always keep the connection...
Hi guys,
I bought a used imac and it's been working fine for a few months and I just had this problem. I asked around on another forum I'm on and someone said it was an IP conflict and to hook it up with the ethernet cable and if that didn't go into preferences and some other crap. Well I had an easier idea and it worked well.
Turned off my imac. The only other wifi device in my house that was turned on my iphone. So I turned it off as well. Turned on the imac and let it grab it's new ip address and it worked. Turned on my iphone and connected to wifi and bam now both of them are working great.
So turn off ALL wifi devices and if you have anything hard wired unplug those for good measure, turn on the problem mac first then the rest on after.
Hope this helps some of you!
