Opel Insignia Car does not support latest version Ipod Nano 5th Generation,

The CD400 radio in the opel insignia car 2010 does not support the ipod nano 5th generation. The car is fitted with a usb point and a 3.5mm jack point. It is disappointing that the ipod does not work. It will only work with older versions of the Ipod nano (1st to 3rd generation). The same can be said for iphone touch and classic. Perhaps Apple do not want people to buy there latest product.

I dont know why apple cant make the ipod so that it can pair with the radio regardless of generation. The Ipod is not user freindly for linking up to car radio.

Has anyone any solution. I have spent

It is not Apple's responsibility. It is up to the 3rd party to keep up with Apple's improvements if they so desire.

Yes it is. It's just not for your model vehicle. 😉

Contact the auto maker. Ask them if they have any updated accessories that will work with the iPod Nano 5th generation.

That 3.5mm jack point sounds like what is often referred to as an AUX jack. If it is, a simple cable from the headset jack to the jack on the stereo should do the trick. That's how I connect my iPods to my car stereo. It works regardless of generation.

Best of luck.

I had the same problem as you. The latest ipod nano is now working from the USB connection in the car. My ipod was tried on another insignia and it worked. This was encourageing. The garage (JJ Fleming OPEL Galway) reinstalled the software for the radio cd400 with any updates. This however did not work. They then disconnected all wires and battery lead to the radio and the rebooted the system with the reinstalled software. This appeared to complete a full reboot. They connected the ipod to the car usb connection and it appeared automatically on the display unit.

I still think there was a loose connection to the radio from the ipod connection. The garage say it was software. It is hard to know.

The garage rang technical support and there was only one other case like this but with a jack point. If you have a problem give the galway opel dealer a ring 091 755451. The problem was not a fuse.

worth the wait as you can control the IPOD from the car radio. The sound quality is excellent.

Thanks for the update. Just back from the dealership myself where I suggested (as per your post) that it might be a fuse. They checked it out and said no that it was a software issue. They are now going to get the update and I have to call back with the car at some stage. I'll mention your success to my garage and see if that helps. Gald to hear its sorted for you and that the iPod works well on the system.
