Motorola SLVR L7

I've not had any joy with iSync - it's not on the supported list yet. Just upgraded from the V3 RAZR on Vodafone, and don't have any way of getting my contacts across - even the Motorola Phone Tools application doesn't recognise it.

Lots of searching, but no joy. I'll let you know if I come up with an answer...

the SLVR works fine when used with a mini-usb to usb cable. It will charge over the usb, sync everything as expected, is found and listed as 'SLVR V8' and (if you download any of the various GPRS motorola phone modem scripts) will also work fine as a gprs modem.

However, looking at the bluetooth packets, the problem with the bluetooth simply seems to be that the phone doesn't advertise any services to the mac. When the mac asks 'what can u do', the V3 and V80 come back with a long list while the V8 (L7 / SLVR) comes back with nothing. I get the distinct impression this might be a problem with the phone firmware but I can't be sure. Until the mac receives a list of bluetooth 'profiles' the phone can handle, it won't attempt to sync with it, transfer files to it, browse it or use it as a modem.

That's exactly what I recognized with my SLVR L7!
But I wonder if it's really a Problem with the SLVRs Firmware???
Perhaps the problem is to be found in some of the phones settings??
The Vodafone manual that came with my SLVR is not that descriptive...

On the other hand I can send Files from the SLVR to the Mac and the data is received correct!

At least I am able to iSync via USB and I managed to get the Salling Clicker working with the SLVR!
I just needed to download it with the Phone from wap.salling.com and now it's working great...

Would love to use iSync, Modem and Salling Clicker Proximity Sync via Bluetooth!

I'm in the middle of similar problems with the SLVR and haven't a clue whats going on. My older motorola V3 sends and recieves files from my Mac no problems. SLVR is another issue. The bluetooth finds the SLVR, bonds with it but can't send files to it. However, the phone can send files to the Mac.....utterly confused. My bro just called up Motorola and they say they don't support macs! funny considering they release Itune phones!

Haven't tried Isync yet.

I have tried a little more with my SLVR!
My first one was a Vodafone (Germany) branded. My dealer took it back when I told them my Bluetooth troubles. He said Vodafone (Germany) is well known for stripping down Bluetooth capabilities nowadays...
So I was hoping for my unbranded SLVR...
Today I just got it... and still, my PowerBook (Mac OS X 10.4.4) doesn't recognize any of the SLVR services...
When I try to send other data to the SLVR (Pictures and Tunes) the Mac refuses to send it because he can't check the services.

Because I can send the data to my Nokia 6630 (Vodafone Germany branded) and from there to the SLVR, the fault seems to be on the Mac's side.
If my PowerBook would recognize the SLVR's Services or would not check those and just send it should work!
Transferring data from the SLVR to the Mac always works!

With iSync via USB I also had some trouble and found some solutions:
- with the Vodafone branded SLVR and Mac OS X 10.4.3 I had to switch the phone to use the phone's Phonebook,
- with the unbranded SLVR and Mac OS X 10.4.4 I had to switch the phone's USB connection from MemorySlot to Data/Fax Connection (SIM or PhoneMemory doesn't seem to matter her)
in order to get reliable iSync connection via USB

Because I banned all my Wintel Boxes (as servers) to my cellar when I switched to the Macintosh I hadn't found the time to test Wintel Bluetooth Connection with the unbranded SLVR until now!

So what's to do?
- I have to apologize Vodafone for suspecting them to "misshandle the Bluetooth part of their SLVR Firmware"
- Apple has so check their Bluetooth Implementation simply because Nokia to Motorola Data (File) transfer works, Mac to Motorola not!!!
- I have to check if Wintel to Motorola also works!
- If it does I have do decide if I really will buy a Mac mini as MediaCenter in my living-room in the near Future (Perhaps around 01.04.2006) or (the least wished) AOpen Mac mini Plagiat (with Windows, iTunes, Salling Clicker) and switch from iPhoto to GraphicConverter and RSync to have all my digital content there...
(By the way, does the AOpen has GigabitEthernet?)

I have the same problem as the others are describing. The computer doesn't recognise the phone as offering any services. Also, while the computer is connected via Bluetooth the phone interface stops responding entirely!

My phone is an unbranded UK SLVR L7, bought without a network connection.

I assumed the SLVR L7 was compatible. Seems the phone is really only good for iTunes. The Address Book sync is horrible. A contact with multiple phone numbers will be created as multiple contacts with one number each on the phone. A contact with a phone number defined as "other" will not get sync'd. I upgraded my old Cingular phone to the SLVR L7 for $200 and I am returning it after 2 days. I could have gone for a better sync'ing free phone and bought a Nano for less and carried around more tunes. Worse yet the SLVR did not ship with and Moto does not provide (for free) any PC sync software, so abusing myself was not even an option.

But beyond all that USB and BT both "worked" fine. BTW BT on/off on this phone is inconvenient. But I have heard you can "hotkey" it. But given the Address Book mess, I did not even consider it.

I don't know how many times I've seen people complain about this. If you want one line per person, it's in the Address Book setup. You can have it either way.

Displaying only one line per person (based upon selecting a prefered record) is still not the same as having a single record with multiple phone numbers. This half-functional solution still does not sync phones numbers of type "other". I will not settle for a lame implementation of record synchronization when I am paying good money. Consumers settling for good enough is what got Microsoft its following.

I have the same problems with an unbranded terminal from spain

yup had the same problem mine is unbranded form germany. does anyone have a transflash card and trid it through usb as a removeable device.

i have a uk unbranded with a 512mb microSD card. file transfers work fine.
