i put my ipad in my bag and then after walking a bit, it starts playing music by itself. so obviously some jostling caused some combination of button hits on the ipad's outer controls caused music to autoplay.
can anyone tell me which buttons play music without opening up ipod in the ipad itself? sort of like me hitting the button on my iphone headset, when there is no active call, will start playing music on my iphone.
Lately I have this problem w/ my iPad Pro. It randomly starts playing music, I have no idea why. I had it sitting on my nightstand just this morning when I hear music start playing in the headphones. I didn't touch it, there's no incoming message, it just started playing music w/ no apps open. Very strange, very annoying.
I've turned off Bluetooth in hopes that that will remove it since I found it On in settings, but I can tell you that it has nothing to do with the keyboard in my case or any other Bluetooth device since I don't use any. When I went to the Bluetooth setting it searched for devices and found nothing, as well. Had turned on twice while in sleep mode this morning while I was carrying it around.
I have no BT devices & never use Music, but it did this for me twice before I posted earlier. I turned BT off on the iPad, along with all the optional settings I could find under Music for the cloud, and it just happened again. I checked immediately and it didn't detect any BT devices in range. It's not a feature if it's unwanted & unrequested & wastes battery when it turns on while being carried in sleep mode. I just wish Apple would allow it to be deleted entirely from the iPad like I was able to on my iPhone (which wasn't even sharing the issue, but oh well).
I'm a first time owner of an ipad. I bought the 2nd generation iPad Pro 256 gig wifi only. I've had it intermittently play music as well. It seems to correlate to when I'm rough with it in my bag. Shake it up a bit and it starts playing. I bought the new Logitech slim Bluetooth keyboard with it. Really great keyboard.
I have the same problem with the logictech slim combo. Its a great a case and i always have the keyboard attached. i dont have any music downloaded either. I've been reading a bunch of things and it doesnt seem to be related to the keyboard because other people have the same problem without one. If you find a solution, please let me know. This is super annoying.
My music starts as soon as I finish with any other app if use my earbuds or earphones. Did you find a solution? Most often after I’ve finished with my guided meditation. I don’t know if it’s the earbuds or the Headspace App.
Well, there are only two buttons that can start your iPad screen and that's the top right corner (in portrait mode) and the round Home button.
I've not heard of that before, but do you have a lock set up on your iPad? I have to assume you don't and that perhaps your iPad came awake by the jostling and at the same time hit the iPod icon and play button ... although that's a pretty neat trick 😉
believe me it surprised me too. i heard music, then opened my bag and noticed the music had started from my ipad, and also the screen was awake. however, it was not on the ipod app screen but just one of the main app icon screens. that is why it is also confusing the heck out of me, that music could start by itself like that.
there must be some combination of button hits that starts the music, no?
You never did say if you have your screen lock active, but I would suggest setting up the lock. That will at least help with icons not being pressed and activated while jostling about in your bag. And perhaps save some battery life, too 😉
Come to think of it, I have an app called Ambiance that I use on my Touch (my fav app for "background noise" while working), and synced it to my iPad. I turned it on once to **** with it a bit, shut it down and the sound continued to play on. I think some of the non-iPad apps, perhaps, aren't doing a "graceful close." It must linger in memory for a bit before it figures out it was supposed to stop.
That still doesn't explain your iPod icon, but using the lock feature may help at least not run down your battery in the meantime.
Every iPad comes with a small valet. He's been known to enjoy his tunes every now and then. He probably forget to turn the volume down when you were out walking around. 🙂
My iPad just started with the same problem today--- and I say problem, because it ran my battery all the way down to 22% today (usually it's at about 70% when I get home)..... not to mention it doesn't sound too professional when 50 Cent is spurting profanity out of your briefcase (though it's pretty funny)
I put the screen lock on several times today and it kept starting to play music-- I then put the iPad on mute, but every time I took it out of my bag today, the screen had been somehow turned on.
I've reset the device about four times today-- it's acting strange and this is the first day I've had any problems with it.
Until it is fixed (or not), why not simply 'Shut-Down' your iPad when carrying it around. It is simple to do (just hold the side button down until you get the shut-down slider on the screen and slide it).
When you are ready to turn it on, simply hold the side button down for 3 seconds and it will boot up your iPad. It is good to do this occassionally (go ahead, do a search, the links will come up that it is good for performance).
When shut-down, you don't have to worry about the screen being touched accidentally, wearing down the battery even if you have the lock on (it still may turn your screen on). When shut-down, it is 'off'. It only takes about 5-10 seconds to boot back up.
Do you have a bluetooth keyboard paired? i noticed that the bluetooth keyboard is still connected and active even when the screen is off. so if you press some of the function keys that have ipod controls associated with them, you will start controlling the ipod even with the ipad screen off.
