Live in Australia but moving to UK

I currently live in Australia but I am moving to London on a permanent basis in June of this year. I am wanting to get an iPhone however I’m wondering what is the best way to go about it. If I get one is Australia will it and all its services, eg internet and email and all of that sort of stuff work in the UK? Or is it best to wait till I get to London then buy one? And if i buy one from the Apple shop is it unlocked?
Thanks

I believe the iPhone is sold in Australia as officially unlocked and as carrier locked with a designated carrier. If you purchase an officially unlocked iPhone in Australia (more expensive), it will work with any carrier's SIM card, but Apple's support and warranty coverage is honored in the country where the iPhone was sold officially by Apple only. If you purchase an officially unlocked iPhone in Australia followed by moving to the UK, if a problem develops that can't be resolved by any other means besides an exchange under warranty, your iPhone will not be exchanged under warranty by Apple in the UK. You would need to return to Australia for an exchange under warranty, or you would need to ship your iPhone to someone you know in Australia to handle the exchange under warranty for you followed by the person shipping the exchange to you in the UK.

I don't believe so.

O2 and Orange probably have a pay-as-you-go option.

In the U.S., AT&T requests a deposit for a contract if a subscriber does not pass the credit requirements. After 12 months of paying the monthly bill in full and on time, the deposit is credited. O2 and Orange may offer the same with a contract if you don't pass their credit requirements.

Can you buy it from the UK apple store online and it will be delivered to Aust? or do you have to be living in the UK to have it delivered? My only concern is if i buy if from O2 or Orange as I won't have been there very long i won't be able to sign up to any contracts.

I think you're right. I've known a few people that cannot sign up to new contracts after just moving. My condolences for having to move over here by the way.......LOL.
