File Sharing with GoodReader does not work for me

I am trying to transfer documents from my MBP to GoodReader on my iPad. I connect the iPad to the MBP via the USB cable, open iTunes, select the iPad under Devices and select the App tab. I scroll down to the File Sharing and select the only application that appears, GoodReader.

I have a few documents in GoodReader on my iPad, but they do not appear in the file sharing window in iTunes. When I click the "Add..." button to add a file to the iTunes File Sharing, I can select a file, but nothing happens after I do.

How do I get this to work?

iPad, Other OS, iPhone OS 3.2

I am saying that transfers do not work in either direction.

I have a bunch of "My Documents" in GoodReader on my iPad that I downloaded from the web. However, they don't appear in the Documents pane under the Apps tab on iTunes. So, I can't "Save to...".

Similarly, I cannot add files to the Documents pane by selecting "Add..." to transfer to my iPad.

The folks who support GoodReader say that the File Transfer through iTunes is out of their hands.

I'm seeing the same symptom on my iPad with iTunes. I have four applications that can transfer files (Keynote, Sheet Music, Sketchbook Pro, and Omnigraffle). While I have several files for each on the iPad, none of them show files in iTunes. Dragging files in or using the Add button doesn't do a thing.

What's odd is that it did work before... the last time I played music I put my charts in a PDF and drug it into SheetMusic. I had rehearsal tonight, but I couldn't get any files to show up or transfer.

I'm not sure what changed. I checked for updates and installed 9.1.1, hopeful that maybe that fixed the bug, but it's still acting the same way.

I guess I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one, but it doesn't make it any less broken. Clearly it is an iTunes or iPad problem since I don't have GoodReader. Looks like the whole file transfer mechanism is broken.

I am having the same issue, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Air Sharing HD, Omnigraffle and SketchBook Pro. Called Apple Support and they did not know what to do. Talked to iWork team and not help either.

Reinstalled iTunes
Reset iPad to both a previous back and as a new device
Tried different USB cables

Don't know what else to do. I think it might have to do with iTunes update.

When you connect your iPad and sync, what - if anything - happens?

Standard sync stuff. "Syncing in Progress", etc.

At the GoodReader folks' suggestion, I removed GoodReader from the iPad, disconnected it from my MBP, power-cycled the iPad, reconnected it to my MBP, and reinstalled GoodReader. Didn't fix the problem.

I can get documents into the iPad with the web browser, but I need File Sharing (via USB) sometimes.

What type docs are you trying to sync?

PDFs

Experiencing exactly the same thing. I too was able to sync documents in all apps supporting this feature between the iPad and iTunes, however, not recently..

I know for certain is started before I updated to iTunes 9.1.1, before that I was using 9.1. Syncing didn't work of either of them. Now, I am not sure when I updated to 9.1 and if the problems started before I updated to 9.1.....

I need this fixed, how else can I efficiently work with it? Emailing is considered an absolute last resort.

If you have the iPhone SDK 2 it breaks all file syncing to iPads via iTunes. See this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2408369&tstart=45

Don't you mean something like "if you have iPhone 4.0 SDK Beta 2"? I do. Does everyone else who is experiencing the problem.

Any word from Apple on when/if they are going to fix this. Just because one is an iPhone/iPad developer doesn't mean that person doesn't use their devices for real work as well.

And for those of us that are not Devs and have never installed any of the SDK's? An SDK isn't what broke mine, and I dont have access to a new one that fixes it.

Im having this problem with Cloudreader. I can add files via iTunes and they make it to my iPad, but it's all one-way. If I delete them through iTunes they disappear in the iTunes window (never to return without a full restore) but not actually off the iPad. I to get anything off I have to go in and manually delete each file individually, sometimes hundreds at a time. Ive taken Cloudreader off the pad completely and reloaded it, Ive done a power cycle and a system restore. Nothing works.

Basically, it seems that the "Add" function works because it operates outside of the "Sync" functionality. But Sync is busted.

I am having exactly the same problem. 😟 I bought Keynote, Pages and GoodReader and either of them doesnt work. I tried everything - restarting Mac, iPad, reinstalling iTunes, etc. but nothing helped. 😟 Hopefully Apple will do something soon, because it is truly annoying and I dont know how to easily share files between Mac and iPad. I beleive that SDK beta 2 is the problem, because I had it, uninstalled it, but it didnt help. :/

I love GoodReader. I use GoodReader with my MobileMe iDisk. With iDisk on all of my computers, file sharing is easy. I can access my files on my iPad and download/upload them using GoodReader. So anywhere I have a Internet connection I have access to my files. With GoodReader I can open Pages, Numbers, and Keynote files into those applications from GoodReader.

My only frustration is GoodReader sees my network printer, but won't print to it.
