iPad wont play videos thru Camera Connector Kit!

Just got the Camera Connector Kit yesterday and i was so excited because i have a music video shoot that i wanted to be able to film and then upload to the iPad for review. I'm working with a Canon T1i DSLR.

Unfortunately when i shot (720 .h264 30 fps video), and uploaded it via the camera connector kit, the files were not able to play back. All i see is this little grey ".mov" icon. All my photos came in fine, but its unfortunate that the video files won't play back because that's why i really wanted it. Apple support has no idea what the problem is!

Any ideas??

+1 for wanting to upload and view content from the GoPro HD.. Thought the iPad would be a great viewing tool. My Asus net book won't process the video fast enuf.. The iMac in the office is great..

Just so you know, i've been playing around with my GoPro HD settings and can confirm that r1 setting (WVGA @ 60fps) does import and play fine, nothing any higher in resolution seems to.

This must be purely the iPad limiting whats importable, come on apple when are you going to let us import HD and make this machine a really really useful tool?

Im not sure if something changed in the last update to 4.2 but im able to play 720p 30 and 60 frame videos but still not 1080p off a gopro. havent tried 960 yet.

Just a heads up to any IPad users trying to play GoPro video via the camera connection kit. Settings r1 through r3 will import and play fine but r4 and r5 will not.

R3 does not play back for me. What did you do to get it to work?

It shows an image icon on import then only shows a blank mp4 icon after import and will not play the footage back

I have a ipad 2 and a gopro hero but have had no luck getting video's from my pc to the ipad. I purchased Tipard ipad video converter but have no luck there either. Any help would be appreciated. I new to this so the simple version would be nice.

I recently bought the GoProHD Hero cam and the iPad Camera Connector Kit. I will say the camera is amazing right out of the box and I AM able to transfer directly to the iPad2 and play them with no problem. I own the iPad2 though, so maybe the extra processing power and ram has to do with it. I was shooting on r3 (720px60fps) and it plays beautifully on the iPad. It looks amazing! Hope that helps clear some things up.

Steps to import from GoPro:

1) Put the SD Card reader into the iPad2.
2) Connect SD card into the reader.
3) Open up 'Photos' application.
4) Give it a bit of time and it will pop open a new tab called 'Camera'.
5) Import and enjoy!

I will test out all the other shooting modes tonight and post back if they work or not. Cheers.

Thanks Cyber, just the info I was after.

I'm planning on buying GoPro Hero 2 gear for skiing, biking, cars, bikes, action, kids to play with etc and want to be able to mainly use my iPad2 and Samsung D6530 TV to view... Off on a ski hol in a couple of weeks and hoped the iPad 2 could serve to view some stuff in the eve.

PC or laptop sounds like the best option for serious footage editing.

How have you got on with your other tests and use of the GoPro / iPad2?
