I saw basically this same ? and tried solution but it did not worrk. My computer had to be restored and I want to transfer my music from my iphone to my Computer and iTunes. I actually have the music on a flash, but it does not include the titles and artwork. It took some time to do all this work and I want to back it up. Can someone give me a solution that will not delete it from my iphone. Scary things happen ya know.
If you include the iTunes named folder located in your Music folder with your computer's backup, this wouldn't be a problem.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store ONLY.
First you need to re-authorize your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes if you haven't already done so.
With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bat go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
This does not work. I don't have an iTunes file since the crash did away with it. The music on my iphone is a combo of music purchased from Zune which I have on a flash drive and music ripped from CD's. I figured out how to readd the music to iTunes if I do it one by one. Life is too short.
This does not work for you, but what I provided does work.
There is not a single iTunes file for one thing. There is an iTunes named folder located in your Music folder where all iTunes content is stored or should be stored.
Did the crash do away with all important data on your computer? No backup for your computer is maintained for all important data such as documents and photos which should also include your iTunes library that is stored on an external drive or some other external media used for backup purposes only? The iPhone is not designed or intended to be used as a backup storage device.
The iTunes transfer function from an iPod or iPhone is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only. This does work for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store.
There are some 3rd party utilities that provide for transferring other content from the iPhone in the opposite direction. Do a Google search.
