Safari/Firefox displays text as gibberish at sites that use Flash

Text displays as gibberish at some sites using Flash, such as YouTube. This appears to be strictly a display issue, since the text reads just fine when I copy/paste it into TextEdit.

I've attempted some trouble shooting to no avail:
Updated Flash Player, Reset Safari, opened in 32-bit, removed duplicate fonts (using FontBook...didn't manually remove), emptied the cache.

I think the problem showed up when I upgraded to Snow Leopard a few months ago.

I appreciate any input folks might have for this issue!
