iPad is recognized by iPhoto but not iTunes

What level of iTunes do you have? At least level 9.1 is required and 9.1.1 is the current version.

I usually have to "unmount" the iPad from within the left pane of iPhoto (right click and "unmount") before it'll pop up in iTunes. Hopefully that is the case for you as well.

Before offering a suggestion, please list what you have tried includes.

So I opened 'Image Capture.app' and set the option "Connecting this camera opens: No application" and that stopped iPhoto from opening when connecting my iPad. However, iTunes still would not recognize new iPad. I tried the "iPad not appearing in iTunes" troubleshooting assistant on Apple's website and the last resort was to reinstall iTunes 9.1.1. So I reluctantly did. Voila, it then recognized the iPad like it should. HOWEVER, after a couple hours, I tried to reconnect the iPad to sync again and it wouldn't recognize the iPad. Do I have to keep reinstalling iTunes everytime it fails to recognize the iPad?? This is ridiculous!!

same thing happens to mine! pls help! i have connected it to a windows-based computer and it recognized it, but my macbook wont recognize it, only in iphoto.!!!

This is also happening to me, Won't recognize iPad or now my iPhone. I tried all the trouble shooting but no luck.......help!

I'm dealing with the same issue with my iPad.

All of sudden, iTunes won't recognize it. The computer does -- it sees it as a camera of some kind (I'm using windows). When I connect it to my macbook pro, it syncs just fine but my library is connected to my PC.

I've tried all of the methods listed above so far and no luck.

It happened to me yesterday. In iPhoto but not iTunes when connected to a hub - and it was not charging. When plugged into the motherboard, it showed up on both.

Does this delete your itunes library?

Same thing for me too. I keep running the uninstall reinstall process which is only a temporary fix.

This is really starting to become annoying.
