iBook screen black

I have a iBook G3 800 mhz and I had the logic board replaced a year ago... well this morning the iBook wouldn't wake up. Last night I closed it, didn't start the sleep mode manualy, and now nothing. I plugged it in to make sure it wasn't a power issue. The power key will make it cycle off and on, I can hear the hard drive running, I could eject a game cd, I could adjust the volume, but a black screen. Has my logic board failed again, this time with no warning or has the video cable broken??

Hi, Johnny. Welcome to Apple Discussions.

It sounds like you're right on track.

It is usual for an iBook with a logic board that is going bad to work sporadically.

Keep an eye on your purchase date, and if you keep on having trouble, send it in. The iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program has a three-year cutoff date, so if you are having any problems at all with the logic board, get it sent in before that. The case number that you got today will help.

Keep your files backed up so you don't lose anything.

Good luck.

Well, do you want to go cheap, or do you want something that will outlast your iBook?

$99 for an 80-gig FireWire drive:

That's a pretty good deal, but I'm not too sure about the future of FireWire. The next computer you buy may not have it.

You may want to pay a little more for one that is FireWire and USB 2. Check out Other World Computing and see what you think. The NewerTech miniStack surely does look sweet, and will do both FireWire and USB 2.

humm I think I am getting the same thing, with my ibook G3 800. I would also, has my logicbard failed again?
I had it replaced under the recall. Humm I went to use the ibook and the display when black.
I can hear the HD spin up and the ibook bootup, when turning on the ibook, but the display is black.
Would this have anything to do with a black display?
The ibook the display case frame is starting to separate at the point where the word ibook is. It gets worse when I open and close the ibook. Would the hinge and display frame, cause the screen to go black or to burn out?

Anyways what did you do about your ibook or have any advice?
