Apple wireless keyboard won't pair with iPad 3G-64G.

Apple Wireless Keyboard won't pair with iPad 3G. Turned on keyboard before turning on iPad. Then turned bluetooth on. Keyboard works with iMac.

IPAD WI-FI + 3G 64G-USA, Mac OS X (10.5.5), OS iPhone 3.2

Yes, I had to turn my iMac off before it worked (shut down, sleep won't work because keyboard wakes it up again when turned on). Then, it paired up fairly quickly and I typed in a 4 digit code, etc. (I have the aluminum 2009 keyboard).

Now, it doesn't work with my iMac, but since I had replaced my keyboard with an illuminated full-sized one anyhow, the wireless Mac keyboard was extra, and I intended on trying it with the iPad.

The iPad touch keys aren't as bad as I thought they'd be, though, better than the iPod Touch or other phone keyboards (too small for me).

Go to settings > general > Bluetooth > turn on > hold the power button on the keyboard until is shows on the iPad > type the code they sent > done

The trick is holding the power button. I paired another iPad/Keyboard and I didn't have to hold the power button, so I was puzzled, then I read a reply on this thread about holding the button and it worked

This procedure worked for my "The New" iPad, i.e. the iPad3. I turned off the iPad, then switched on my Apple Bluetooth Keyboard (a two-year-old model that has an aluminium body with white plastic chicklet keys). I turned on Bluetooth on the iPad via Settings > General > Bluetooth, and then held in the power button at the right rear of the keyboard. The iPad shortly responded by finding my keyboard and informing me that it was not paired, which -- duh! -- was true at the moment. A moment later, a dialog box popped up informing me that the Keyboard wanted to pair with the iPad. The dialog box provided a 4-digit pairing code and asked me to enter the code on the Bluetooth keyboard and then press "return/enter" on the Bluetooth keyboard. At this, the iPad settings screen indicated the iPad was now paired with the keyboard, providing the name I had long ago assigned to the keyboard. Mission accomplished. Now to discover the idiosyncracies of using a Bluetooth keyboard with an iPad on iOS 5.1.

Just bought the latest iPad... and although it recognized the keyboard and I click on "pair", it doesn't pair. I don't get the dialog box like you did. The little round spinning circle just gives up and diappears! 😕
