I had the same problem, but holding power button for a few seconds didn't work. That is, until I checked the battery. One AA battery fixed the problem.
Thanks Ian, your suggestion worked for me too! I am now typing on my Apple bluetooth keyboard paired with my iPad 2.
Thanks again Ian !!!!!
Cheers
Sue :-)
PS: if anyone out there can tell me how to pair iPad 2 with my bluetooth car sound system so I can listen to music from my iPad, I'd love to hear from you! :-)
If your bluetooth keyboard does not work, another thing to verify is that it is currently not paired with any other device or computer.
For example, if you use the bluetooth keyboard you iMac, turn off bluetooth on the iMac and then you should be able to pair it with the iPad. Then to connect it to the iMac again just turn off bluetooth on the iPad and turn it back on, on the iMac.
I tried and tried this to no avail, then discovered that when the message comes up that the keyboard is "not paired" you have to TOUCH that on the screen (iPad) and that prompts it to pair, lol.
I was going CRAZY with this and following all these instructions but no one said to touch the "Not Paired" on the screen!
My solution: MAKE SURE that your ipad and your Apple wireless keyboard are out of range of any other device that is making Bluetooth calls. Example: I tried unsuccessfully to pair my Apple wireles keyboard with my iPad min, while both the keyboard and the mini were close to my iMac, with no success. (The iMac was Bluetooth connected to a trackpad.) I discovered that if I moved my iPad mini and wireless keyboard across the room (i.e. out of range of my iMac, I could pair the mini with the keyboard with no problem. Might work for someone else.
I've been trying to figure how to pair the keyboard back with my iPhone 4. I'm very good with technology, but this stomped me... THANK YOU THANK YOU camilarc!!!!
That worked for me--connected! Thanks Ian.
Thanks so much! I couldn't get it to work, but holding it down to power off & then holding the power button again to turn on made it work! My iPad found it immediately once I turned it on again =) So simple, yet overlooked a lot of the time! Thanks for sharing!
all I did was hold the on button on the keyboard until it blinked and my ipad found it. Hope this helps
Bing-GO.
That was the solution to my issue. My keyboard was paired to my phone as I was trying to pair it with my iPad.
