iTunes Movie won't Play on iPad

I have the iPad Wi-Fi + 3G 64GB

When Star Trek came out on DVD, I bought the Blu-ray 3-Disc copy that had a free Digital Copy download from iTunes.

This copy would play on my Apple TV, but not my iPhone... Now I have loaded it to my new iPad, and it won't play on it. It tells me it can't be played on this device.

Can anyone help me out here?

iPad, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

Same problem (Princess and the Frog downloaded from iTunes as blu ray digital copy and wont play on iPad). Had other digital copies that work on this iPad - this one won't.

Tried erasing, reloading, etc. Currently using iTunes 9.1.1.

Anyone have any thoughts? Would prefer not to have to burn the DVD copy to handbrake and load that way. Seems like these digital copies should work on the iPad.

I had the same problem. The Matrix, while playing fine in iTunes, won't sync onto my iPad. When I did the "Create iPad or Apple TV version" thing, I got a much small file with no video - just a white screen. What the **** happened?

I never did an answer or solution to this problem. But I did find a free handy file conversion program called Videora that does the job. It is SLOW however as it seems to convert in real time. Another odd thing about it to me is that the file that's created for the iPad movie is larger than the original. But the converted movies sync and play just fine on the iPad.

Thank you! This worked great for a movie my company sent me in .mov. I converted it and it plays beautifully on the ipad.

I got the "this video won't play" message on a TV episode I downloaded from iTunes and tried to play on my iPad (iTunes 10 and iPad1). The video played in my iTunes on the computer, but not on the iPad. I finally resorted to the old trick of when all else fails: reboot. I restarted my iPad and everything works fine. The picture is not as good on my 62" screen as the HD network feed, but good enough to catch up on an occassional missed episode. The picture is probably equal to the standard digital signal from network, but in widescreen format. I think I will stick to Netflix Blu-Ray for movies - for now.

Just reboot your machine (hold down HOME and HOLD button-top right button)

I had the same problem. Just got new ipad 2, downloaded digital content of "Hot Tub Time Machine" transferred via itunes from PC to ipad 2 and got the "Movie cannot be played" messgage. Rebooted and now it works fine!

I downloaded 'Finding Nemo' and it played in iTunes but not on my iPad. I have my iPad backup encrypted and I thought it might be the culprit. Sure enough, after unencrypting, the movie played fine.

If you turn your iPad off, wait about 10 seconds and turn it back on, your downloaded movie off iTunes should work.

I have two iTunes purchased movies Constantine and Little Big Soldier that won't sync to my iPad iTunes even gave me another download of Little Big Soldier and it still won't sync. I don't think it's my iPad as I have other purchased movies and digital copies that do sync

I had the same problem with The Hangover digital copy. Ended up rebooting my ipad2 and it worked fine after that.

I had the same problem with 2 iTunes purchased movies which has been doing my head in all week until last night when success I simply opened a new user account on my pc installed iTunes plugged in my iPad followed all the instructions moved the movies over from my other user account synced iPad hay presto movies now play on my iPad
