iTunes Movie won't Play on iPad

I have the iPad Wi-Fi + 3G 64GB

When Star Trek came out on DVD, I bought the Blu-ray 3-Disc copy that had a free Digital Copy download from iTunes.

This copy would play on my Apple TV, but not my iPhone... Now I have loaded it to my new iPad, and it won't play on it. It tells me it can't be played on this device.

Can anyone help me out here?

Same problem (Princess and the Frog downloaded from iTunes as blu ray digital copy and wont play on iPad). Had other digital copies that work on this iPad - this one won't.

Tried erasing, reloading, etc. Currently using iTunes 9.1.1.

Anyone have any thoughts? Would prefer not to have to burn the DVD copy to handbrake and load that way. Seems like these digital copies should work on the iPad.

I have 2 movies I have had for LONG time purchased throught ITunes (Megaminda and a Thomas the Tank Engine Movie). I had not problems until I upgraded to IPad IOS 5.0.1 and it crashed the IPad and I had to do a restore on teh IPad and restore from combination of ICloud and ITunes Sync. But My Movies are now Grayed out. I can play them in Itunes fine and it shows in Itunes they are on the Ipad (still gray though) but they don't show up in the videos app or in the Purchased tab or Itunes App. Acutally when I go to Purchased it states I have no music purchased through Itunes which is true but it don't let me see anything about my movie purchases... they do show up under purchased section in Itunes though... This is wierd... I did the Reboot even had it off over night a couple times... no help. I really don't want to hack it or anything with third party software so I hope someone can give me some advise on this one to try that is different. Any help is appreciated. thanks!

I had this same issue; and after a restart, it persisted. I then remembered that I had launched the Videos app earlier to view the other movies I had transfered. Sure enough, all of my background applications survivied the reboot. So, try explictly double tapping the home button, pressing the video icon until it wiggles, and then closing it with a tap to the red x. Sorry for being so verbose, but I'm sure a lot of novice users will read this too.

What I've done to get around this problem is, after some research, downloaded a free MP4 converter. The converter I use even has an "MP4 for iPad" option. After this the video usually drops right into iTunes via a drag and drop.

I hope this helps. iTunes doesn't seem to like reading files other than those so after that any other problems should be fixed by what was written elsewhere in this thread.
