Can I use Ipad to sign documents?

I work in the machine service industry and would like to use an Ipad to have customers sign a service report without printing it first. Is this possible and if so any ideas on how to do it? I could make to report a .pdf file or a word document if that helps.

My doctor has a program that let's me sign on the dotted line. He also has to get someone to witness my signing and they sign too. I know there are times when a witness is not needed. Like when we sign for a ups package. But then again we don't know if the kind of service that ups uses It maybe a bonded service or something like that... It would be nice to know if signing a forum or a PDF by way the iPad makes the document legit. It is an electronic format that can be edited. I've seen judges not accepting copies of a signed documents because the signature can be falsified.

I'd love to "build in" some functionality to my Pages documents. Like electronically signing contracts, approving pricing, etc. I don't really care about actually SIGNING with a pen, but finding a way to put in a check box and a way to type in initials or something.

I want to take contracts into Pages on iPad and allow "approvals" or signatures.

Also, then after electronically approving a contract, you could enter an email address into a form, then email a PDF to the address - on the fly.

Any ideas?
