Selling books in iBooks
Does anyone know if this will change soon? It seems silly for iTunes to offer indie music but iBooks to be all corporatocracy.

It appears that this blog has founds some further info...

Since we are prohibited from discussing Apple's policies here I think I will have to refrain from comment on this.
Thanks for the link.
Re the original question, you do not have to go through an aggregator to be an iBookstore seller. You can apply via iTunes Connect if you meet the criteria and buy your own ISBN numbers. I have one iBook so far, Tracks in the Sand, which is a picture book about sea turtles.
Wow Loreen, you are so fast! I'll check your book out. Could you pls direct me to how to find the iTunes Connect and how to get an ISBN number? Cheers.

Hi again! To clarify, I created the Tracks in the Sand iBook last fall using the Book Creator app. Here is a post about that process:

If you're in the U.S. you buy ISBNs from Bowker: https://www.myidentifiers.com/
It may be easier to go through an aggregator for various reasons, I haven't tried it.
