Transferring photos from ipad to imac.
Mac OS X (10.6.3)

Mac OS X (10.6.3)
Just checked out the app preview and just have a question. The photos that I want to transfer from my ipad to imac are not ones created from the ipad (ie. saved photos) but were originally tranferred from my imac TO my ipad. THEN...I deleted the original photo files (over 1000) on my imac (STUPID!) and remembered that I still have them on my ipad. Will your app take these photos and transfer them to my imac? Am I making any sense? Somebody please tell me that there is hope!
Thanks!
Image Capture is the answer for Mac users. So simple. I wonder why the Finder can't do that.
Adobe Lightroom can also see the iPad or iPhone and import photos. Not something to buy just to connect the iPad, but if you're already using Lightroom, it may be the best solution.
Thanks SoundmanRC !!
Thank-you SoundmanRC, I honestly think this is the answer a majority of people are looking for. It almost amounts to spam the amount of app recomendations in this thread as opposed to a simple answer like yours.
I have downloaded images using iPhoto, Lightroom, Bridge, (undoubtedly Aperture would also work I dont know for certain as I dont use it) RAW files or JPG. I think they see the iPad as a camera.
The IPad has to be tethered to the computer.

Follow these instructions below:
• Turn your PC and iPad on.
• Connect your iPad with your PC.
• Open My Computer and select "Photos" under iPad.
• Click and drag the desired photos to your desktop and it will be transferred to your PC.

Hopefully this works for all of you like it just worked for me!
This does work for a PC, however, the question is how to do it with a Mac, Image Capture seems to be the solution.
You can use Image Capture or iPhoto on your Mac to transfer your "Saved Folder", "Camera Roll", and "All Imported" photos from your iPad. If you want to transfer anything else, you'll need a paid app like Photo Shack Pro for the iPad. It'll let you transfer any of your photos back to your computer, wired or wireless.
Thanks SoundmanRC. Just used Image Capture and transferred my photos across from my iPad effortlessly 🙂 This was via cable rather than the wireless app mentioned in another post though suited me to use the existing software rather than shelling out for an app I didn't require.
When you setup your iPad did you choose to sync your photos with iPhoto? If so just plug in and sync. Your photos should transfer. If however you are like me and chose not to sync photos you can go to the Util... sorry just Applications folder and the Image Capture program which will treat your iPad like a camera.
iPhoto will also see a non-synced iPad as a camera. Just launch iPhoto and then import the images and movies you, like.

Hi guys
I need help too.
My ipad has all of my photos - about 4000.
However, when I plug the ipad into my new imac and open iphoto I am only one photo album presents itself to be transfered into iphoto.
It's a folder called "saved Photos" that contains photos I have downloaded from friends emails etc.
I have struggled with iphoto for months. My old computer "lost" all my photos after I installed a softwear update for iphoto. The same softwear update took all of my work files off the desktop.
I was able to find the folder with all of the photos but was not able to open it as the original photos were now not compatible with the new version of iphoto. My old computer's hard drive died last week. I have a new one and was delighted when I connected to the time machine and all of my old photos came back.
Sadly, when the computer did it's softwear update it downloaded the newer version of iphoto again and all my old photos dissapeared - again!
I was hoping when i plugged in my ipad I could get all the photos back - however only photos not from my own library but from external sources are coming up.
I need help - desperately!
I tried the ipad photo to mac plug in but it is importing photos randomly - with 4000 photos I really need them to be imported chronologically.
Please help :-}
Hi there,
I have the same problem. Were you able to successfully transfer the photos? I am pretty stuck and have 22,000 photos that I did inadvertently transfer to my iPad 2 and IO would like to get them back on my Mac Book and external hard drive.
Cheers
Kim
Hi Kim,
Sadly I was not able to find a way to import my photos from the ipad to my new computer.
I ended up copying the photos from my partners computer onto a hard drive and transferring them that way.
I am very disapointed that there is no easy way to get around this.
Good luck
Hi there,
I have discovered Photo Transfer app on iPad $2.99 and it works well. Worth buying and then you can transfer originally synced photos back to laptop.
Good luck!
Kim
I'm trying to transfer photos from my iPad to the MacBook. The photos transfer ok. I'm able to name the album and sometimes edit the photos. However, when I unplug the iPad and try and use my photos from iPhoto albums, in iMovie I sometimes get the following message. Even though I can SEE the photos!
Alert: The photo “IMG_0235.JPG” could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found.
So frustrating! What am I doing wrong?
On recommendation from an Apple rep, I backed up my photos using Time Machine and a Seagate external HD. THEN Apple put out an iPhoto software update. NOW my MacBook won't recognize the external HD and I can't access the 14,000+ photos!!!!!!! What's going on with Apple and the iPhoto app?
HELP!
I purchased the Photo Transfer app a year ago. I give it 2 stars as MOST of the time the app doesn't work. Won't connect no matter what you do 😟
