Transferring photos from ipad to imac.

I bought the ipad to take on trips and use it to view and cache photos on it until I got home. When I got home I then planned to sync the photos on the ipad to my imac. I have tried various experiments to transfer photos from the ipad via the camera kit and sync cable. So far I have only been able to put pictures onto the ipad but have not had any luck getting them from the ipad to the imac. Any ideas?

Dav9, Image Capture does not work unless photos are saved images on the iPad. I have over 1000 images that I had transferred from my MAC and now I can't transfer them to my iMAC. Iphoto, Image Capture, and iTunes does not even "see" these photos when I plug in my iPad. And syncing won't work because it will only place imaged from the iMAC onto the iPad and then will erase the very photos I want to keep on the iPad. Very frustrating. Any solutions?

To copy photos that were originally synced from a computer you can use a third-party app such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off the iPad via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.

If you open iPhoto when you're syncing your iPad in itunes it should pop up as a device you can import photos from.
By the way, as far as I know photos are downsized when they're transferred to your ipad in the first place. so they will not have a very high resolution when you transfer them back form your ipad.
There really is a way to help you to transfer photos from iPad to Mac, which support iMac too.

iTunes sync operations are one way, that is from your computer to your iPad. You can import photos and images from your iPad's "Camera Roll" that you have taken or otherwise captured with your iPad, but you can't load back any photos that you may have synced there with iTunes.

There is an app called Photo Shack HD that allows you to organize, modify metadata (including GPS), and transfer photos back to your computer using iTunes File Transfer, but it's meant for the serious photographer. In other words, it's not very cheap (I think about $15 US). But I use it in my photo business and really like the flexibility and functionality it offers.

I am an iPad Air user, as i often take photos, and never delete any one, so there are so many stuff in my iPad which really cause a mess! And so i just got some of my iPad photos to my Mac computer, to release some space, and also for backup, with the help of iPubsoft iPad to Mac Transfer, you can also use it to export iPad photos to Mac computer! Good luck!

Well, here is my memory about transferring photos from iPad to iMac, which I hope to be helpful. Just connect your ipad to your computer. Once it has detected, Open iTunes and select the "Photos" tab. Check the "Sync Photos" box at the top. From the drop-down menu next to that, select the program or folder that contains your photo library. Then just select the photos you want to transfer and drag them to your iMac.

Do you know actually you can use AirDrop to transfer your iPad photos to iMac?
