USB port question

Hello community,

I have a simple question for you today. I own two TC, a late 2009 MC343LL/A model (1 TB) and an early 2009 double-band model (500 GB).

The question is: is the integrated USB port an high-power 2.0 port?

I tried to charge two iPhone simultaneously through the same Time Capsule 2.0 USB port (using a simple USB switch) and it works. I can charge two iPhones simultaneously.

So, if I can charge two iPhone at the same time, could I properly charge an iPad?

(I haven't got the iPad yet xD)

I don't have a Time Capsule, but when you connect the iPad to one of its USB ports, check to see if the iPad says "Not Charging" near the battery indicator, or if it instead shows the "lightning bolt" indicating that you're plugged in. You can't harm it either way.

The typical USB port supplies one amp of current. The iPhones you mentioned were probably drawing 500 milliamps each, which would have charged them but at a somewhat reduced rate of charge.

The iPad should slow-charge off the USB port if it is in sleep mode.
If the iPad is awake, the top right legend will say "not charging" when hooked to a USB port.

The wall charger for the iPad is rated at 2 amps. Thus it is capable of a quicker charging rate.
