Cannot Send Mail, the server rejected one of the recipient's addresses.

I have not been able to send email via my iphone 3gs for several months now. I just realized that I changed my email password on my incoming mail but didn't know I had to change it for the outgoing mail. Perhaps this might help some of you out there!
Settings>(mail account)>Outgoing mail server (SMTP)>Primary server>Password
Having tried all of these things, I gave up and went to the apple store in Bath. A really helpful chap there finally fixed it for me by deleting another old email account I'd stopped using. Apparently this was somehow interfering
and blocking the outgoing messages from an entirely different email account.
I guess the lesson is to try deleting other all email accounts and see if the error messages still happen.
For the record, Bell Aliant iPad users with cellular data plans seem to need to have two outgoing SMTP servers (at least I do):
1. One for wifi (Bell Internet)
2. One for cellular (Bell Mobility)
In Settings, Mail/Contacts/Calendar, Mail, Outgoing Mail Server SMTP there is a screen that allows for entering more than one outgoing server. I called Bell to get the two server names. I entered the wifi server into the Primary box, and the cellular server into the other box. I leave both on, but for some reason when I am off wifi and on cellular the system chokes and fails to find the secondary outgoing server unless I manually turn off the primary wifi server. Works fine, just have to remember to turn off or on the primary wifi server when switching from wifi to cellular.
Nice to have a way to send emails from the iPad using Bell cellular.
Hi there, I also use 1and1 Internet in the UK, and found that simply adding the email account username and password to the outgoing SMTP Primary Server did the trick.
When the outgoing server details are initially entered, these two fields are shown as optional - seems like they are mandatory.
My iPhone recently began displaying the Sender Address Cannot be Verified message. I researched and read internet postings to no avail. I went into Settings:Mail and everything looked fine although my iPhone was telling me it could not verify either my User ID or my password. I re-entered my password multiple times to no avail. Then, it dawned on me. I was entering my Apple password whereas it wanted the password for my Comcast mail account. I entered that password and all worked perfectly. I do not know what caused this problem but believe it was the upgrade to IOS 5. This was more than three hours out of my life.
On my new 4s iPhone, for my custom domain Email account hosted by Godaddy.com, at first I could only receive and NOT send. Another list referred me to this thread.
I've fiddled with all the settings, think I've gotten them correct, and now I can send but NOT receive email from that account.
I have 3 Gmail accounts and all of them transferred flawlessly when I set up the new 4s iPhone.
When I moved to a new 3G and then a 3Gs iPhone, all these settings transferred without issue.
I've tried everything repeadedly, including deleting the account, rebooting the device, and then starting over. Still no luck.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Dave
Nothing works for me
I have the server correct use username and password
Tried port 25, 110, 143, 3535, 80, 465
25 says that my server is not responding or check network connection. That is different message that the other servers. Maybe something wrong tonight?
I have smtpout.sercureserver.net as my out going like my email provider suggest. System looks very similar to go daddy .com. Antennae get their godaddy.com email to work?
Spent like 2 hours on this last night talked to the ISP and my email provider with little help. Fainally went to bed. Work up opend my iPad and swoosh it gave me the sent sound. Looked and my outbox was gone. Tried it from the email that wasn't working and it sent no problems. Used port 25. So why it give me **** last night but work fine now? I restarted the pad like everyone said last night with no luck
Oh well it works. Thanks
Hi Guys i hope that helps. I was having the same exact problem in my ipad 1ST generation so what i did was compared my settings in my iphone 4, after reviewing i could see in the outgoing when they say the optional wasnt filled with my info even knowing it's optional. So i filled right after i finished ( boom) it worked fine sending e-mails.
I GOT THE SOLUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just delete all your accounts on the ipad and add them all over again. It worked for me. try it!!!! If it doesn't work, email me at ymmontes@me.com and I would personally walk you thru and set you up.
Another piece of good news! In case some of you are wondering how can you have your IPAD NOTES saved on your emails in case you lose your ipad....well I got a simple solution for that too!!!! email me
In my wife's case, she had 3 accounts on her iPad checking for email at 3 addresses. Without changing any settings she suddenly could not send emails. I set her up so that her two non-Apple email accounts forward to her iCloud email from their ISP websites, then deleted only those two accounts, leaving her iCloud account as it was. Suddenly she could send email just fine.
You don't need to delete the email acct. In 'settings' just turn it off, select 'done' and then turn it back on again. You should hear a 'swoosh' and mail in your 'outbox' should be gone. That worked for me. Good Luck!
In my case it was when I turned on Cellular Data that I had the problem sending mail, but switching the email acct off and then on again (in settings) triggered it to release the mail in the outbox, without using Wi Fi. When I use Wi Fi, I don't seem to have a problem.
I had to select the comcast account under mail settings, then select the SMTP and under primary server (smtp.comcast.net) make sure your U/N and P/W are filled in; mine were blank. This was for port 587 with SSL on and Password authentication.
Hopefully this helps all of you as I wasted 3 hrs of my time trying to solve my email password/offline/can't verify problem with the IMAC. My account was through ATT and ATT has an option to allow you to stay logged in up to two weeks. If you are logged into your ATT account the IMAC mail program cannot log into your email account to retrieve you email. If you log out on the website your IMAC should be able to grab your email. Ha too simple and nobody has figured it out. Good luck
