Having trouble using my Epson 2450 scanner after installing OS 10.6.3 I am using an older version of Photoshop CS (I guess it would be version 8). I have installed the epson twain driver utility 2.77 When I select import and choose epson 2450 photoshop basically crashes. There is not an option in this version of photoshop to print using rosetta when I do a get info on it. I'm disappointed that I can no longer scan into photoshop. Any suggestions or remedies are much appreciated.
That is not even an attempt at a logical solution. I will continue to search and see if Epson provides an update for snow leopard at any rate, or if anyone else has resolved the issue with the same configuration.
That scanner and Snow Leopard don't work together. You were lucky to have had it working in the first place. If I am not mistaken, that Epson driver is 2.77A, as in Alpha, as in they never even bothered to improve it back in the day when they were doing such things.
For others that may be using an older version of photoshop and the Epson Perfection 2450 Photo scanner and have upgraded to Mac OS 10.6.3 you can still use the scanner. It must be plugged directly into your mac, not a hub. Use the application "Preview" from the applications folder. Go to File and choose Import From Scanner and choose the Epson Perfection 2450. You can now scan, save your file and then open it up in Photoshop or wherever. Epson is working on a new driver for 10.6.3 I was advised to keep checking their website for an update.
This is a help forum, not a social forum to make obscure irrelevant posts like yours. If you have a helpful piece of information that might help someone, then by all means post it. If you merely post your opinions of which you have no knowledge of, then you have not served the forum in the best way, but merely blurted out senseless information that is of no use to anyone. TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT THIS SCANNER AND SNOW LEOPARD DO WORK TOGETHER as I have previously posted. Epson advised to keep checking to see if they update their drivers for Mac OS 10.6.3 so that you can use the scanner from within Photoshop. I only hope that such posts such as yours don't discourage other users that use these discussion forums to help find answers to their questions. I AM lucky that I don't stop investigating issues that I have with my Mac due to incorrect or personal opinions that are posted in these forums.
From experience, keep searching, you are bound to find someone with the same issue or problem and find solutions or workarounds. Don't always believe someone that says "it can't be done".
Hello,
Your postings are interesting and encouraging in that I am finding I am not alone with my similar problem with my Epson 2450 importing into Photoshop. Last week I purchased an Epson V700, I installed the scanner but found it not to my liking and returned it. Yesterday I downloaded and ran the Uninstaller to remove the V700. This however deleted my 2450 driver as well. I reinstalled the 2450 driver from Epson but then, and after repeated attempts, found that the 2450 is not showing up as an import option. Please note that I am still using Tiger. Any suggestions to getting this all working again as it has for the past 8 years would be greatly appreciated. One simple use of an uninstaller has turned for the worse - I wish I had just kept the V700 installed and just ignored that it was still listed in Photoshop as an import choice.
We recommend that you use Apple's Image Capture to scan directly from Photoshop. Your scanner is automatically supported in 10.6.3.
Hope this helps,
Syd
Guess the only helpful thing is to avoid Epson in the future. It is the third time i run out of support. 2 Printers, 1 Scanner. And i'm not talking about 50$-gadgets.
And it would – at least - be helpful i you would state "not supported by Epson" on your website instead of offering a driver for 10.6 Intel which neither supports 10.6 nor Intel. Would have prevented me from wasting time for downloading and installing it.
