Help - Ipod stuck in 'charging' mode even though its not!

Can anyone help? I charged my ipod this morning, disconnected it from itunes now the screen is stuck on 'connected - eject before disconnecting'.
Does anyone have any ideas how to get rid of this? None of the buttons seem to work.

I have the same problem. I used my iPod in my alarm clock this a.m. Turned off the alarm - removed the iPod & it's stuck on Charging. The lock is not on - I tried turning the lock off & on. Cannot turn off the iPod. ITunes doesn't recognize it. I couldn't use it for my Nike pod with my run this morning & I'm now of course not able to log my runs!!! Someone help!

I've had this problem before. What I've done:

1. Make sure the lock is off
2. Press and hold both menu and the button in the middle of the wheel.
3. You should see the iPod eventually power off, then boot back up with the Apple logo. The key is that you need to hold both of those buttons until your device powers off.
