Well that did the trick. Full restore...lengthy and painful.

I strongly suspect now that downloading apps directly on the ipad caused the problem, hence the message 'finding purchased apps' before the hang. I have two ipads one syncs on a Mac, the other on Windows and both versions of itunes hung at this same point with two different ipads! I almost blame iBooks, because it prompted me within the appstore on the ipad to download it.

I suggest you either manage your apps entirely from itunes and then sync, or forget the app syncing and just use the ipad.

Until, of course, a fix is provided.

I had this same problem. I was trying to move itunes purchases to a new PC and used the authorize this PC option. When I tried to synch my iPad, it fronze at that same point. I looked on itunes and some of the libraries had not imported yet from my backup/restore. I added the appropriate libraries to itunes so they would show up. All worked fine and came into view EXCEPT iBooks. When I tried to add the library into itunes, it locked everything up. So this is another angle that supports the theory that something is wrong with iBooks. It can't be what I loaded on my iPad , it has to be iBooks in general since the folder that was already on itunes from my old PC would not load on my new PC.

This makes me very sad since I really use ibooks alot. I do remember the ibooks app was updated recently...so might be the reason.

I have exactly the same problem. When syncing my Ipad i get message 'Syncing 'xxxxxxIpad' Step 3 of 6. Finding purchased items' - then Itunes freezes. I have deleted every reference to IBooks from Itunes, Iphone and Ipad and i still get the problem. With this issue i am unable to sync my Ipad!! It does not appear to effect the Iphone!

Hi, I found a solution to our problem.

1st- erase iBooks that seems to be the one to blame for all our trouble

2nd- back up iPhone

3rd- disconnect your iPhone from your computer and go to Settings/General/Reset/ and Erase all Content and Settings

4th- re connect to computer. Itunes will ask you if you want to configure it as a new device or restore from back up. Restore from your back up.

Result. You have you Iphone free of iBook trouble and ok to sync again.

This is what I did and worked from me.. hope it does for you too.

Bests
