Can't copy large video files FROM iPhone to PC

I've searched high and low for a solution to this one. Every google hit on this search finds no resolution. Does the Apple community know how to get around this problem?

I used my 32GB iPhone 3Gs to shoot a video which turned out to be 48 minutes long, and approximately 1.2GB in file size. It plays OK on the iPhone itself.

However, when attempting to transfer or copy the large video file from the iPhone to PC, it FAILS. The photos and small-under-7gb-videos copy to PC just fine. The PC shows it's copying the file for a few minutes, however when done, the file copied to PC won't open, and shows a file size of zero. In some attempts, an error 80004005 shows.

Seriously, why use the iPhone to shoot a long video, if it can't be transferred to your PC? Any help on this matter is much appreciated.

I'm a PC, Windows XP

I have an iphone 5, but I am using windows 10. The issue does appear to be any video much longer than 41 minutes (yikes). I consider this a serious UX fail. Anyway, in windows 10, do the same backup, but the BACKUP PATH is slightly different:

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup

The files are encoded and without extensions, i.e.:

[BACKUP PATH]\0ce8a47b967a22788d641039303ff3f07f169778\67\67cd8850500c7d4a2649776e4272e 1d1a803f6f9

So, at the backup path location, do a search on everything (use '*') and sort by SIZE DESCENDING. Then go to the bottom of the window, and you will be looking for a file 4.5 GB or bigger. Copy (don't move) those to someplace safe, and rename them with .MOV (you should also call them something nicer than 67cd8850500c7d4a2649776e4272e1d1a803f6f9.MOV).

Anyway, then you can browse through them much quicker and find that video I was so desperate to get up on YouTube! I mean, you were so desperate to ... anywho.

Thanks!

I'm at the end of my wits, people, I really need help with this. Nothing seems to work. I have a pretty long video, 37 minutes, that I can't seem to transfer by any means. I even downloaded the Dropbox app (it won't upload; I get an error message every time); downloaded iexplorer (which won't import the video either).

Going to my iPhone through the Windows Explorer isn't doing anything. I don't have the DCIM folder, instead it just opens up on all my photos directly. Everything shows up (photos + short videoclips), but the big video doesn't even show.

Tried the advice from page 1 here, going through the whole "documents & settings"-branch etc, but that comes up with zero results either.

I don't want to just randomly buy "supposedly" helpful apps through iTunes just to find out that doesn't work either. Same with softwares (free or not free) from whatever websites.

I really can't understand why the video file doesn't even show up in any kind of explorer, whereas the short ones do.

I just want to get this darned thing onto my computer! Can anyone help? Please?

I had the same issue and someone had posted a solution in a mac forum that worked for me.

However, you are operating on a PC, and not a Mac.

So, the only solution I can offer is to find a friend (or go to the Apple store) and connect your iPhone to it and launch Image Capture.

However, DO NOT hit the import button. Instead, find the file and drag and drop it into the desired destination directory on the Mac (in Finder).

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure if this works for larger files, but it worked for my 3 minute files.

I have an iPhone and videotaped music from church on Easter but when I tried to send it via email to myself, I got the message that it was too long.

I followed the advice of Qball2, but I had to make adjustments because what I pulled up didn't look exactly like what he must have had--like 2 icons for my phone; I had only one. (I have a ToshibaL875D laptop with Windows 8 and an iPhone 5c)

Here's what I did:

1-Plugged my iPhone into my laptop

2-Clicked on "This PC."

3-Clicked on the iPhone icon

4-Clicked on "internal storage"

5-Clicked on DCIM

6-Clicked on 8600KMZO (I'm not sure if this shows up for everyone, or if it's unique to my iPhone or computer)

This brought up thumbnails of the various pictures and videos on my phone

7-I highlighted (left clicked, not right clicked) the video I wanted to download to the computer

8-Under the "Home" tab, I selected "copy to" and clicked on "videos."

It immediately began copying the video to my computer.

When it finished, I went back to "This PC" again, clicked on "Videos" and it was there. You can probably play around with it to get it into iTunes, but

I don't really need it there for now. I just wanted to get it onto my computer.

Yesterday I could not email an iPhone movie (too large).

Instead, I pressed ahead with "send" and was invited to email a shortened part of the file.

That part (I went with an initial segment proposed by the system) was 15.5Mb.

Following that I tried again but chose the part beginning where the first left off.

You just slide the brackets identifying the beginning and end of the snip.

That turned out to be 8.3Mb. Both went without a hitch and played nicely upon receipt.

t seems the process can be continued for larger movies.

By comparison, hooking the iPhone to my MAC and pulling the file over from my iPhone 6

seemed to take a long time and produced a file I could not email (too large).

With the advent of iCloud, make sure that you are backing up your phone to iTunes, and not to iCloud. Seems silly, but if you are backing up to iCloud to copy large video from iPhone to computer, then the files won't be in the backup folder.

Yes, many people tend to use iTunes and iCloud because it is really common. However, to copy such large video files cost lots of storage while iCloud only allows 5G storage, so I think it is not so reasonable. In fact, we can copy video directly when we connect iPhone to computer and then select the data or file we wan to export with several clicks.

I Am completely stuck. I have a 44 minute video clip n my iPhone 5 which I'm trying to transfer to my MacBook Air. I kept getting an error message. So I did the drag and drop but now I get a different error message saying the file may be damaged. In the meantime, I tried to email it to myself and it didn't go and now my email file is the size of the video clip even though I have deleted everything and nothing shows up in any mail folders. I have removed the email accounts and added them back and nothing has changed. I've removed everything I can from my phone but now the video and Mail are taking up all the storage. I don't want to delete the video. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

FINALLY FOUND THE SOLUTION!

This worked for me, only because I had a router. Downloaded this app called wireless transfer app. Hopped on to my home wifi and then turned on the app to launch the web server. Went to PC and navigated to the site and VOILA, the video finally showed up. Hit download and then deleted the app after the download was complete.

At the end how I feel about it? Check out my user name below 👿.

Hi, I have moved 2 files; 6 gb and 7.25gb from iPhone 6sPlus to Windows 10 pc using SHAREit.

go to http://shareit.en.softonic.com/ to download this simple software.

Connect iPhone app to pc by wifi, select files for transfer; press icon - files are now transferred to pc.

Files can be moved from iPhone to pc and from pc to iPhone.

I spent 2 days trying usb transfer and it failed everytime.

iPhone when connected to pc via usb would show all photos and movies of a smaller file length in DCIM 100, 101 etc.

But large video files are stored on iPhone in videos; not in Camera Roll. Thus does not show on pc in DCIM 100 etc folder.

The above software worked perfectly and you can use it on many various occasions.

Hope this helps
