Follow-up...
I'm happy to say after months of frustration the issue has finally been resolved.
After getting no assistance from Apple by either phone or Internet, I took my PB to a local reseller (not an Apple Store) where they ordered and replaced my keyboard. Fortunately the PB is still under warranty so it didn't cost me a dime. What it did cost me was the inconvenience and loss of productivity due to all the problems. For that I’m disappointed with Apple who failed to respond to any of the postings or feedback on this well document issue.
As for those who still have the problem and new folks seeking help we now have a solution, albeit an expensive one if your computer is out of warranty. I will tell you this though, my PB hasn't missed a keystroke or delay since the new keyboard. So for all the months myself and others have been posting our complaints, concerns and pleas for help we now have an answer, no Thanks to Apple I might add.
Finally, I would like to say this about Apple’s technical support policy...who I know monitors these postings. You give customers who call for assistance within the first 90-days of ownership “Complimentary Support.” Which is basically there to hold your hand on how to use your new Apple product within the first 90-days. When I sought phone support after my problem first arose I was told they wouldn’t help me because it’s been over 90-days since I bought my computer and I now had to pay for phone support. The thing is I wasn’t seeking phone support, I wanted the hardware issue with my computer fixed under warranty. But I was never given the opportunity to seek that assistance since I wouldn’t pay for their phone support. What I needed was my computer (still under warranty) fixed by the manufacturer. In years past, if your PB or iBook was under warranty and there was a problem, you’d spend 20 minutes troubleshooting it with an Apple technician over the phone and if that didn’t fix the problem they would DHL you a box with your computer coming back fixed a few days later. That was all I was ever seeking.
I hope my PB doesn’t give me any more problems now. I don’t want to have to go through all of this again.
