Photos transferred from your computer to your iPad via the iTunes sync process cannot be deleted on or with the iPad, which includes an entire album. Photos transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync process are removed from your iPad in the same way - via the iTunes sync process.

Do you manually manage photo storage on your computer, or do you use an app that is supported for syncing photos?

You're welcome.

You have separate albums available from the import done with the Camera Connection Kit, or are all photos that were imported stored in a single location?

Regardless, you cannot delete an album with the iPad.

If you use iPhoto for photo storage and management on your Mac, you can use iPhoto to import these photos followed by deleting the photos from your iPad after the import process is complete. Create a new iPhoto album or albums for the imported photos that you want available on your iPAd and transfer the iPhoto albums to your iPad via the iTunes sync process, which is selected under the Photos tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes.

I just discovered the same limitation this weekend.

I would like to copy photos to my iPad to browse them and back them up, but I prefer to import to Aperture from my compact flash cards (I have scripts that pre-process the photos / stamp GPS data / etc. and the scripts won't work if I directly import the photos from the iPad).

After I successfully sync my photos from my flash cards, I would like to delete my "back-ups" from my iPad.

It is a pain to have to do this by selecting each photo manually! Hopefully Apple will fix this in an update!!! (I've just sent feedback to Apple).

It is slightly easier to delete photos by selecting the little arrow icon in the top right, and then clicking on the photos and pressing the delete button, but this is still painful. I tried various gestures to select all the photos, but none seemed to work.

I am searching for the same thing, i.e. quickly deleting multiple photos imported to iPad from Camera Connection Kit. iPhoto lets you see and select those photos on iPad, but not delete them. Best thing I've come up with so far is using Image Capture - you don't need to reimport and wait for delete prompt. You can Select All or drag and select multiple photos and then use the little Delete button on the bottom. AFAIK there is no way to do this on the iPad itself. Image Capture is very slow however reading photos from iPad through USB connection, much slower than my camera for some reason. Also I don't seem to be able to view photos by album, and Image Capture only displays photos imported directly to iPad (which can be convenient actually).
