Using link or ln command -- hard links -- with images
Is there a way to modify an image file and still preserve the document inode so that hard links are updated when original is modified? link command creates valid file with same hard link -- but modifying original creates a document with new inode. I've tried save and save as, with same result.
MacPro (Intel Xeon Nehalem),
Mac OS X (10.6.3),
unix commands
Well, I'd like to use hard links so to create sort of an archive of images that I can use even after I save the documents that the images are placed in to an archival file server... Simlinks wouldn't work after I move the original, right? Photoshop is the app that I'm using to modify the documents. Do you know of a way to force PS to overwrite the same disk space when updating a file???
