Getting iPad to loop or repeat a video

So, my company just purchased an iPad and we are wanting to use it to loop a nice video at trade shows. As of now, we need to keep hitting the play button after the video plays once through. Wondering if there is a work around anyone knows of where we get the video to loop or repeat consecutively.

I was looking for a way to loop a video for a wedding reception. I found the following most helpful:

LoopyLoopy is as good as advertised: Link to App Store

Most importantly, I found the cutest Ipad stand that worked perfectly. It is white so it matched perfectly and it looked so clean and elegant. It wasn't expenseive either. It's called the Sharkk White Stand and I now use it in the kitchen to hold my Ipad when I cook.

I hope if anyone was looking for the same thing as I me that you found this helpful! 🙂

If using Mark E's suggestion (i.e. just using the iPad's built-in slideshow feature, without needing to download any apps) don't forget that you need a second photo in the album for the loop/repeat function to work (a screenshot of the movie start/end would be just fine). 🙂

From Mark E's original post:-

1) Import movie into iPhoto on your computer.

2) Put the movie into its own album in iPhoto.

3) Sync photos with iPad. Make sure new album is selected, and the "Include videos" box is checked.

4) On iPad, go to Settings, Photos. Select Repeat option for Slideshow to ON.

5) Go to Photos, select the new album, and hit the Slideshow button.

As long as the album you create at step 2 has another photo in it, everything should work fine...😎

Hi

At the last minute I found a nice way to do this. Use Keynote!

we created a new keynote document, looped it on an imac, then uploaded to googledrive. That's how we transferred the file to the ipad.

make a new document

import video

go to inspector click on video, go to little Quicktime icon,

select LOOP

press play in keynote.

If you do not know keynote, you will have to play with it for a while as the controls are kind of hidden...

Sorry if my instructions suck but I do not have time right now..it works.

The answer to looping video on an iPad for kiosk display is a moving target because of the many versions of hardware, software and third party apps. After digging - a lot - here's what I found for the iPad 128Gb, iOS 7. Similar for iPod Touch 4G. November 2013. (I'm using Windows at the moment but the Mac I use is not much different in this.) See if it works for you.

Make your video iPad compatible. (There are lots of options. I use a conversion program like Handbrake.) (.MP4?)

Open iTunes on your PC, drag the video file into the iPad Movies folder in iTunes. When it is loaded, iTunes will call it a Home Video. So, if you don't see under Movies on your iPad, click the Home Video tab.

Right-Click On the filename.

Get Info.

Options.

Change the Media Kind to Music Video so that the Music will recognize it for a play list.

(Don't panic! The video will vanish from Movies AND Home Videos but will show up in Music on the desktop or under the Music Videos tab on the iPad.)

Create a Music Video Playlist.

Loop it. Play it.
Attach it to a big screen.

I just learned that this is the method to get a video to loop on an iPod touch too. I used my ipad2 to play a video loop using an app called Loopy (which is free and works great) I was showing on an Epson projector for 5 hours today. I was concerned that my battery might die, so looked for loopy for my ipod as a backup. No such thing. I did, however run across instructions from Apple for how to loop a video on an itouch, which are just what randsmyth wrote above. Haven't tried it yet, but I'll bet that will work. I did want to let everyone know that I've used Loopy successfully on the ipad. Free app, easy to use. After 5 continuous hours of playing a 20 minute video what had been a fully charged ipad 2 battery was at 53%.

Did you notice that on a Mac there is a stutter in Safari at the end of the loop, and that it defaults to run DivX plug in for .mov files in Chrome and Firefox (HTML5 pref looks like) and flashes the divx logo between loops? I was able to run it fine in Chrome after disabling DivX, but Firefox won't play it without that plug-in. I tried adding: pluginspage="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/" after the auto play code, but it still couldn't find a Quicktime plug-in after DivX was disabled.

Works wonderfully for looping on the iPhone: the only web solution I've found to this problem. THANKS!!!!

p.s., sorry for the second post. Wouldn't let me edit the first one. Error.
