well i am getting the same thing here. i tried registering an apple ID through the myinfo.apple etc and we registered the ipod successfully there, but when we go to itunes store, we are asked to review the account information. when you click continue, we get an error message saying that the changes (even though we made none) could not be saved.

hmm. this seems to have been going on a while. i guess my daughter will have to wait a few days to use the itunes store.

I'm a me too ! What a load of C$%P this is, you spend £250 on a device and you can't start buying items for it due to a software problem! I've got £50 worth of vouchers to redeem as well so I hope that works.

From reading through the thread it sounds like all of these devices are purchased as gifts for our children. I know I tried to register it first under my sons name and date of birth and its then it threw it out. I suspect its to do with his age but it appears once it have that problem in its cache it wont let you do anything else.

I've created the account using the myinfo as sugested and that appears to have worked for creation but I can't authorise the account on itunes.

Pretty stupid really. I will try on a different pc and report back.

Not a good introduction to apple I must say

Setting up on another computer asked my to wipe the touch. I did this, signed in with my account, changed the details as requested, added a credit card. This time it worked.

I then went back into the account via itunes and selected NONE for the payment type to wipe the CC.

After all this plugged it back on the first machine, signed into itunes and all ok. What a PITA !

Hope this helps

Nope. One voucher was pre-paid for in the supermarket and mine was through the itunes gifting system which has come out of my bank account. I will try registering/redeeming again and will ring them today if no joy. Does anyone from apple actually read the active discussion threads here? Would be nice to know they take customers concerns seriously:-/

I've given up on getting my son an account. I've logged in as myself and added his gift card which worked and we were able to download apps to his touch. But it means I have to log in for him whenever he wants apps (no way I'm going to give him my password).
I've tried iTunes help 3 times and they've said I should contact Apple for paid support since their standard form letters didn't help.

Apple - is there anybody out there ?

I have the same problem - either getting 'An error occurred. We couldn't save your changes' or 'You are not eligible to create an account at this time'. The second message is sort of interesting because the account already exists as far as I can see. I would expect the message to be more explicit.

Do we think someone is properly investigating this ?

Ended up getting an account thru the back door. Went to myinfo.apple.com to get an ID then logged into iTunes. Had to register again and add credit/debit card details. However, I did this on MY computer and not my cousin's (see my original intention at top of second page in this thread) and the account has notched up 'one computer' linked to downloading from this account. I now need to log in on the intended pc and change all the address and card details to my cousin's. She will still need to log in so her daughter can download the tunes she wants from her 11th birthday vouchers!! Blimey, what a fiasco. Good job I don't mind troubleshooting eh? Thanks to Mordreneth for the tip. Good luck everyone else.
