when you create an itunes account your first mistake is trying to do it from the ipod itself. ALWAYS go through the itunes on the computer. To download a free account you need to go the itunes programon the computer, connect to the itunes store, then click app store, then on right locate free apps, click on free app as if your going to download it and click create account. This will allow you to create an acconut without a credit card. Its nothing with the ipod touches, you people aren't doing it the way it should be done.Shouldn't blame apple reps when your not doing the steps it takes to create one.

You can easily create an iTunes account directly on the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch as shown on this page -> iTunes: How to set up an iTunes Store account (Apple ID)
yes you can but i work at apple and no it always almost always ends up being a nightmare when someone tries to do it on deviceitself.
Most likely because they are already signed into an iTunes account.
To create an iTunes account on an iDevice, one must first sign out of the iTunes store (in Settings > Store tap the account name currently signed in with then Sign out).
It is because your son is too young. Change the date of birth to an older person and you will be just fine. Hope this helps.
What you guys are probably doing is just trying to create the account entirely on the device. It should be thought to go onto the computer and try it there. I mean, you try only one thing and then blame apple for it not working. sometimes things dont work. and you should CALL apple, not just go off of what one person says.
You can't use iTunes without a credit/debit card. That is most likely why you're getting errors. I believe you can make single instance purchases with gift cards, but you may still have to have a store account.
"You can't use iTunes without a credit/debit card."
Yes you can.
Hi,
Needing help... I'm getting this exact same problem, creating an account for my daughter.
We've not even plugged her iPod touch in yet, we've done everything via our PC... I constantly get the "An error has occurred. Your changes cannot be saved" message... I've also tried setting her up as an Allowance from my account, that doesn't work either.
Any suggestions, as otherwise we're pretty stuffed really as we want her to have her own account otherwise I've got to worry about going individually through which apps we sync if she uses my account etc....
"you people aren't doing it the way it should be done"
If you are an apple employee then you must work in the canteen.
My son created an account via the touch to access facetime. I then gifted him an app which he cannot access via iTunes. If creating an account via the touch isn't going to work, then why is it there as an option?
Is there a resolution for this? so far (5 days) I haven't received an answer from Apple.
I found a workaround for Windows users.
I went to control panel and clicked add user account and created a new user account.
Then I switched to that new account and started itunes without the ipod plugged in. Its like opening a clean itunes.
I created a new account using this itunes (actually I just updated the previous accout that had error saving).
That worked fine. I returned to the other login opened itunes signed in using this account. Worked fine. Plugged in ipod - still fine.
I think that should work!

Rather than doing this, make sure you are logged out of the iTunes store before attempting to create a new account.
To log out of the iTunes store, select iTunes store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on the Account name at top right then Sign out.

Simple fix: if you have already entered an age if less than 13, you have to clear your safari cache. Go to settings, then safari, then clear history, cookies, and cache. Then re-register for your new itunes/apple user account.
Happened to us this morning too but this worked.
This worked like a charm! Very Cool!! Thanks!!!
