"This attachment is too large to be opened"

I emailed myself a 22MB PDF from a scanner at work. I'm trying to save it so I can open it in Goodreader but I get that error.

Is there a workaround, setting or something I can do? Or does anyone know the size limit for email attachments?

Macbook (black), Mac OS X (10.6.2)

probably should add that after some further playing around, it is not very stable, it seems to be ok if you just view it in the mail app and close it, or if you select "open in" and use PDFreader pro for example, the app will launch and view the pdf ok and save it in the local directory for PDFreader for later use without having to use mail again. But if you close the PDF app and go back to mail, the PDF will be stuck there in the mail app, you can navigate through the PDF, but cant get out, you can zoom and it tells you what page your on etc, but i have had to do a reset about 5 times. also if you select "open in" when viewing in the mail app, and then try and go back by selecting done without choosing an app, it will freeze and you need to reset to get mail functioning again. very annoying. ok im done.....

i gave it a go and turning off and on the mail account doesn't work in my situation. also i have now installed PDFreader on the users iPad, cannot open 55mb PDF, so i got the same user to send the same file again to my iPad that has been opening it, and i get attachment too large again??????????? same email from the same user with the same attachment name and it doesn't work, but if i scroll down 5 emails to the previous one sent, it has the pdfreader icon and will open the 55mb pdf attachment???? i have tried downloading it from OWA again, no good. But, now i forwarded the most recently sent email from my corporate email to my gmail from my ipad over the 3G, i have a 6GB plan so i am not bothered, but takes a while. When the sending progress bar filled all the way at the bottom of my inbox, the screen blacked out for about 7 seconds, i still had the 3G symbol and time etc etc, but then it just came back to life at the homescreen, i re-opened mail and wow, i can now open both the 55mb attachments from the same user in different emails. that is CRAP!!
