Changing Magic Mouse Batteries Once A Week

I've been changing batteries for the magic mouse every week. The batteries cost 20 dollars for 2 pairs. Is this normal? I like the mouse but it seems more like a bill to me.

The mouse battery meter in the iMac does not appear to be linear with eneloops. Mine typically start out at about 80% after a full charge, then rapidly drop to around 50% and then stay at that level for days, before gradually dropping to 30%. In five months of use, I have never had to recharge them in less than three weeks.
