I'm updating to 3.1.3 on an ipod touch 2G (pretty sure) and during the restore, the bar under the apple logo gets stuck at the exact same place every time. It is almost at the end but then it stops. Any ideas?
Welcome to the discussions,
try to delete the ipod software file located in user/library/iTunes/ipod software updates/ to make iTunes download a new copy when you restore or connect in recovery mode. Maybe the file stored on your mac is damaged.
Recovery mode:

I thought that might be what it was. I tried the restore on the macbook last night and it had to freshly download 3.1.3. It worked thankfully. Thank you
hi,
i'm having exactly the same problem, except i'm using windows vista. is there anyway i could fix this, as I cannot find the ipod software updates file anywhere?
The easiest thing would be to just search your drive for a .ipsw file. Then open up that directory. Sorry I just can't remember exactly where iTunes keeps the firmwares on Windows.
*Should be here:
c:/users/(your username)/appdata/roaming/applecomputer/itunes/ipod software updates
