My Ipad is dead.

Completely black, no power, no charge, computer doesn't recognize it. Had it on the charger overnight and still nothing. Been snug in it's case since I've had it, never dropped or exposed to liquids other than cleaning. Tried the holding the home button and power button trick, nothing.

Bought at Best Buy. Any ideas?

+" Onec the device is turned off that is how you turn it back on. The home button and the sleep button held together will also turn the device off and when you want to power it back up you push the home and sleep button till the apple logo appears. So everyone can put your minds at ease. The reason for this configuration is so you dont turn it off by accident these are hand held devices that would make you mad if you turned it a certain way and hit the power button"+

I am thankful for finding this thread as this happened to me and I was starting to freak over the possibility of all the lost info. I currently have the iPad plugged in to sync and backup it's contents. Anyway, I still think there is an issue to be answered to WHY this happened. I accept most of your explaination but in my case, I was using the iPad and then set it down. It was low on battery so perhaps the batery died. However, every other time that this has happened, I would get a red battery indicating that the battery needed to charge some before it would turn on. However, this time, the iPad was totally dead. I never touched the two buttons at the same time and there is no way that I could have turned it off by mistake. So, why did it shut off like that. Is there a problem where I should try and have it replaced? Or, is this a freak thing that should not happen again. Thanks again to whomever originally posted the solution.

You are posting to an old thread but maybe I can help.

You must be sure that your battery has sufficient power or resetting the device isn't going to work so charge your battery for at least 30 minutes if you think the battery is very low. The reset is performed by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen - ignore the red slider bar - let go of the buttons.

You have to wait until the Apple logo appears on the screen. It could take up to 30 seconds from what I have read. But if the logo doesn't show up after 30 seconds, this fix is not going to work for you. You may need to restore your device via iTunes.

You can read bout restoring here.

Gosh haven't even been using mine for a month yet and it went dead after I turned it on and left it in my car before coming back for it in less than 30 min. Thank God manage to revive it using the home start method suggested in this forum. Seems so many have experienced the same thing! Could it be due to overcharging? I charge my iPad nearly every night even though there is still about 60% power left... And some times I just let it charge overnight!

Thanks to you all, thought we might have to take it to service agent, but pressing the Home and Off button together as many have said fixed it. But took 20 secs though, powered up with Apple symbol. Think the problem is that I have been in the habit of letting the iPad powered until low battery is indicated, perhaps not a good idea. Will charge when it gets down to 30% in future.

My Ipad is dead.
